Byfield's game is getting worse.

Then again, the 23-and-under line was pretty mediocre. One of the reasons I'm not fond of an entire line like that, and why these young guys should have been with a vet earlier in the season in higher scoring roles.

Love Durzi's ability to move the puck in the offensive zone.

Even more impressed with Spence literally adapting his game on a daily basis.

On a rebuilding team Durzi is a number 1D man already. He can possibly be our #2 after Doughty. Handled the minutes fine, just a few bumps but his O game is solid. Once he gets bigger and stronger, and I said this before, he can become a Jared Spurgeon type.

Not complaining. Just think it’s weird how much rope a second overall pick gets and shows very little reasons why he’s drafted second overall. But yes Durzi is awesome for a rookie for his draft position as well
I think we're so use to seeing 1st and 2nd overall picks dominating straight out of their draft, that we don't look at the past few years and realize that hasn't been the case for a while. I think Byfield will be fine as he grows with the game and fines his role on this team, he's shown flashes of greatness, but also shifts where the growing pains are pretty obvious.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING – 'They've got 2 cups. We've got zero. Tonight is ours' Edition

Stewie Griffin : The only team I feel confident playing...6-2 Kings

hotcabbagesoup : Boys got to go to an escape room for Hertl's signing and tonight they'll get to go out and eat on Hertl's tab so good vibes all around.

SNOG 7-3 Sharks
Burns, Reedy, Couture, Meier, Dahlen, Bonino, Viel
Moore, Doighty, Frk

Cas : Sharks 8, Kings 1

Hertl 8.1 (ninth goal overturned on a controversial call)
Brown

Red Light Lover : SNOG

SHARKS - 9
Kings - 2

bluefunnel : SNOG:

4-2 Sharks.
Hertl, Meier, Karlsson and Reedy.
Moore and Doughty.

SharksFan17 : Oh good Brown is still out after the puck to the hand I guess. Well one less opportunity for an 8 million dollar knee shot.

FishRFriendz86 : They've got 2 cups. We've got zero. Tonight is ours.

sharski : did someone forget to flip the light switch on. arena lookin spoopy af

SharksFan17 : Well crypts are usually dark.

bluefunnel : I noticed that last Kings away game as well. It's the lighting, it brightens the ice inside of the arena but makes everything else look dark and that picks up on the camera. It doesn't help that the seats are all black as well.

hotcabbagesoup : Are we playing against hockey players? Or are we playing against zombies in the dark?

zombie_Kopitar.jpg

one2gamble : Another one of those mystery games eh

Kcoyote3 : Dump and chase by both sides on repeat

The Nemesis : Half of this Kings roster feels like made-up names.

bluefunnel : I feel like the ESPN guys have already called this game for the Kings.

hohosaregood : i thought this was a kings broadcast being coopted as the national broadcast. is this really a national crew?

sharski : why are the announcers acting like the kings discovered a breakthrough in cancer research after a lifetime of work

hohosaregood : i'm quite over this announcing crew

Pavelski2112 : Yea that was just a good shot by Kopitar

Tw1ster : Love Kopitar but I know he isn’t that weak on his skates

Tw1ster : Definitely the hold/interference for sure haha. Kings are playing a squeaky clean game as well

The Nemesis : Did Linda Cohn drink a dozen coffees before this game? Her eyes look like they're in serious danger of coming out of their sockets. Either that or getting this much close exposure to Sharks hockey is absolutely terrifying.

The Nemesis : Hertl signed his fat extension, so clearly he's just never going to score again.

Tw1ster : What a pass. Also, pulled my groin watching that save

Mafoofoo : Hertl may never score another goal

Tw1ster : Hertl speaks how Linda Cohn looks

The Nemesis: Hertl never scoring again confirmed.

That's fine, and I agree. But we got posters saying his faults\failures to excel were caused by line mates, when clearly it's QB himself that needs the growth.

Combination of both in my opinion, no one has really looked good playing with Brown this season. AA was pretty hit and miss in his games this year. One game he looks like a plug, the next game he looks like a 30 goal scorer.

That's because AA already scored 30 in the NHL. He is a streaky scorer. QB never looked like a 30 goal scorer. He is not ready.

And it looks more and more like AA's 30 goal season was the exception, not the norm. QB is 19, playing 4th line minutes for the most part. Write him off if you want, but it's not like he's exactly put in a position to just jump right in and be a 30 goal scorer, so I don't get your comparison there.

All I’m saying is that you knew Kopitar and Doughty were special players in their rookie seasons. Byfield looks like a 4th liner outside of the preseason. You can be right and say he’s young. But there’s nothing outside of hopeful thinking that suggest Byfield will be a good player.

That line right now is better than it was with Brown on it. Are you forgetting how much time they spent in their own zone and how many turnovers just trying to break out when it was Brown there? That line is at least pushing play they just cant really get together any semblance of a threat in the offensive zone.

QB not being ready is writing him off...lol Making excuses for him for his lack of growth.... which is a process that will take time, is what I don't get from some of you.

By the way, Philip Danault would be leading the Montreal Canadians in goals right now…
And if it wasn't for Kempe looking for big $$$ in his next contract, he would be leading the Kings in goals too.

That's why I said mediocre.

I just don't like "rookie" lines anyway.

Look at the post a few before yours, comparing him to two possible HoFers, and 2 guys who will 99.9% have their jersey's retired in LA. Saying there isn't anything there is writing him off in my opinion. Give the kid time to learn. just because he isn't destroying the league at 19 doesn't mean he's a career 4th liner. Some players take longer to put it all together, some never do, as a King's fan, I hope he does, not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

How great is it to have Brown injured? No more anchors for Byfield allowing him to spread his offensive wings.
The offense hasnt been there. Theres no denying it. Though can you at least agree that the third line is much better breaking out and not losing coverage in their own zone since Brown has been off of it? Its also better in the neutral zone and getting pucks deep. Just when its finally there they cant turn it into anything dangerous. Hopefully they can muster some points and get some confidence.
