It's hard to score in the NHL, especially for young players that are not topflight players with elite skill.

Ice time has to go somewhere. It’s the top end that aren’t able to bring it more than once in awhile. It’s trickle down mediocrity.

Wasn't the rumor that Blues simply wanted a B prospect or 2nd rounder ? Or Am I miss remembering

According to this article, they were asking for too much.
The latest on the Blues and Vladimir Tarasenko: Source says trade value is decreasing — 'it’s time to move him'
It’s been rather quiet on the Vladimir Tarasenko trade front — too quiet, a league source who is close to the situation told The Athletic on Wednesday.

The source said emphatically that Tarasenko should have been traded by now and that the Blues are only further diminishing his value by hanging on to him this long.

“The trajectory doesn’t get any better,” the source said. “They shit on this guy … to their own detriment. It’s time to move him. The train has left the station.”

On the opening day of free agency Wednesday, Tarasenko and his $7.5 million salary-cap hit remained on the roster. General manager Doug Armstrong acknowledged last week that it would have an effect on the Blues’ spending, and while they did heavily pursue one of their own unrestricted free agents in Mike Hoffman, there were no signings late into the night.

So why hasn’t Tarasenko been traded?

The source said Armstrong has miscalculated the situation, asking for “too much” in return. There were once four teams interested in Tarasenko, and there are still at least two, but the options are dwindling after Wednesday’s signings around the league.

ice time actually wasn't bad til the blues scored then tmac decided to fix something that wasn't broken and ran kopi into the ground with the power play double shifts

i think that second PP, kopi was out there for like a minute and a half

Focusing on individual games doesn’t explain why the team sucks. If you have a different excuse for every loss, it’s evidence that the people in charge are just winging it.

It's funny, I've long believed that Blake was trying to emulate the Maple Leafs. Building a possession offense that plays on the perimeter and shies away from any physicality; combined with a defense that plays passively. Now if you look at the records through 7 games they are damn near identical. Leafs 2-4-1 and Kings 1-5-1. Leafs 10th in xGF% and Kings 8th in xGF%. Leafs 7th in CF% and Kings 8th in CF%.

Especially Kupari?

No, just no. He has ONE offensive move and two of the three times he never even got the shot off.

He's the Buffalo Gal - goin' round the outside, round the outside, round the outside.

Vilardi and Kaliyev were miles ahead of him.
Except for the part where he cut into the middle and got a shot off? One of the only times a kings player actually effectively backed off their D

Here's a sad fact:

Derek Forbort has more goals and points than Gabe Vilardi, Adrian Kempe, Trevor Moore, Blake Lizotte, Matt Roy, Mikey Anderson.

God, this team sucks.

You know what what the hell just bring back Melrose. This team don't play defense anyways. All out offense. Might get us a few more goals. Lol. Nothing else to say but at least we have one more win then Chicago I guess.

The last 4 biggest contracts signed: Matt Roy, Trevor Moore, Athanisiou and Cal Petersen.

Petersen has been ok...BUT, Roy and Moore have not played nearly as good as last year. And Andreas Athan-see-you? See you, I gots 2.7 million and didn't get my last shot and totally AWOL...his agent is the biggest super star...getting him 2.7 million up from 1 million after a mediocre year. Moore is semi invisible and not making mistakes, but not doing all the things he was last year...he's been like a Lizotte, minus falling down 1.33 times each shift. What's up?

I say bench him and bring up Turcotte. NOW, Inject some life into this lifeless POS team. (Yes, I know Turcotte should stay in the AHL and play BIG minutes....and I also think call him up and give him a few games) Or Frk or Fagemo. I would callup Clague, as he at least has offensive sense. He looked bad last pre-season game, but also had about 7-8 games last year, where he looked great. Matt Roy flubs pucks each PP.

Was Roy completely ineffective on the PP tonight or was the entire PP1 unit just straight trash?

Goes to show you that xGF% is a crap stat.

roy was all over jake neighbours, he really played him physical

i just can't get the godawful power play breakout out of my head though

Roy was pretty good, in my opinion. Decisive, and ready to shoot. In the end, no goals, so still fail.
That's at least sort of reassuring. Hopefully everyone can adjust and click in the next few games.

Can't score
Can't defend
actually decent 5v5
godawful special teams
can't hit, won't hit
not fast enough--good skaters that aren't playing fast enough to use their skating
what's the system
zero identity
zero heart, fight

Injuries aren't an excuse for lifelessness, we saw the pens the other night win with their 7 highest paid players out. You don't need talent to work hard.

this is an unacceptable measure of 'progress' at this point.

I can accept reckless youthful mistakes pushing the play and being aggressive especially vs. an experienced team like the Blues. I can't accept laziness or lackadaisical play and no one finishing their hits. This blues team has to be looking at the vets that used to turn them black and blue and laughing their absolute assess off while they stickhandle past the third drive-by.

This has become literally the worst stretch of Kings hockey I've ever seen, spinning our wheels in mud, working towards absolutely nothing, ruining both vets AND youth with a lack of vision or cohesion in any way. Guarantee you the first trade we make will go off and produce 1.5x what they are here in a 'role' fit for them...and I'm willing to bet it's Kempe.

Someone earlier mentioned the TM years and how it felt they were at least coming together and building towards something; this team feels like a pickup game where the sticks were just thrown in the middle and the guys have their memories wiped night after night and have to reintroduce themselves to new guys. No brotherhood here. Who is next to get run over?
