GDT: 2021-22 season game 15 LA Kings vs Winnipeg Jets @4:00pm 11/13/21

Team overall was good, PP was awful though. The mask policy was crazily enforced, they warned us to only put it down between sips and the worker scolded my buddy and the people sitting beside me multiple times even when they only had it down for 30 ish seconds between sips of their drink/eating. Was pretty distracting actually, the woman talked to them during the play.

Least we got a point though, our streak was bound to end sometime.

Yeah, each team was sort of sleep walking toward the end, and then Dubois got the penalty, the Kings kept playing the same way, but the Jets got back involved, and then the Kings had to hold on for a point.

They played themselves back into the conversation at least. 5-5-5 in regulation. 2-2 in OT. 1-0 in the SO.

5 games in the next 2 weeks at home. Plenty of rest. Now they can't give away what good they've done to get back into it. Get to the Ducks game, and have it mean something again.

Tkachev has the same amount of PP points as Brown and Kempe combined.

OK admittedly its been years since I been on this board, so I'm hoping my credentials are still good enough to post even though I had to completely re-register my user name (as if someone else would have taken it, right!) First, what an excellent road trip. The boys are playing like nothing I've seen in the last few years not even at the end of the Covid ended season. Watching them playing smothering defense is kinda fun.
But there was a particular moment in the second period where I cringed hearing Faust comment on the road trip. If this were baseball, heading in to the bottom of the 7th or 8th and certainly the 9th inning and your pitcher has not given up a hit, NOBODY and I mean NOBODY, not teammate, not announcer, not even stupid fan of the visiting team in the stands or at home goes and mentions the word No-Hitter. Its just a known thing that the mere mention of the word jinxes the occurrence of it happening. So yes, as old as I am and following the team for the years I have, I know that this team hasn't ever swept an all Canadian road trip over three games.
So when I hear Faust pop that fact out (he said they've never swept a four game Canadian road trip) right near the end of the second period, you just had to know it was bound to happen that the Kings wouldn't pull out a win and wouldn't record that eighth point in four games on this trip. Bob Miller would not have made that mistake that's for sure. I would wager that even the guy on the radio wouldn't do it, and didn't do it either. The next time I bump into Fox I'll chide him a bit to let the FNG announcer know not to do so again.
How many times does it have to be repeated that you never, never, taunt the Hockey Gods.
Other than that, how's everyone been? I saw quite a few names I recall: Telos, Johnjm, Bandit, eleventy.
Now if I can only get the Promotions Department to not let Mercury Insurance offer a free pair of tickets to a playoff game befeer the team actually qualifies for them, that could really help!

Gutted it out tonight. They looked a bit tired mentally to me, but maybe their legs weren't able to respond like they have the last few games. Take the point and run.

Some powerplay numbers:

Drew Doughty, in 4 games, is STILL tied for second on powerplay points. With 3.

Vladimir Tkachev has more assists in today's AHL game than Kempe and Brown have powerplay points combined.

The Kings have 3 shorthanded goals against. Which is as many powerplay goals Kopitar has scored on the powerplay, leading the team.

Minus the first game, the Kings have 8 powerplay goals in 14 games. They have had 53 opportunities in that span.

The powerplay is the biggest headline (or punchline) of the season.

Happy to know you didn't die. Welcome back.

I remember this guy. Wish I remembered my name when you were around the last time. Lets hug anyways

When is Arvidsson supposed to be back? It's been two weeks already. I'm not familiar with all the rules of the protocol.

I wonder who gets bumped out of the lineup when he returns. I assume it will be Kaliyev.

There's no way Arvidsson and Vilardi could travel with the team while in the protocol so I think it was always fair to assume that they wouldn't be available until the road trip ended.

There are lots of rules.

Having gone through it myself once already I assure you they are not taking risks with this.

EDIT : There are at least 27 pages of rules and probably more that I haven't seen. The print is very small.

Probably just because he's the youngest. Both Kaliyev and Kupari have been overwhelmed a bit the last few games. They have their moments but they are starting to get exposed regularly. Grundstrom is holding his own though, you can tell he's been around the block.

The thing about Arty is he isn't a great hockey player by NHL standards. He doesn't even bother heading into puck battles most of the time, and if he does it's rare he comes out with it. He's out of position a lot defensively, and his overall hockey IQ is below average. His all-world shot and above-average offensive awareness is why he's valuable out there. He's definitely taken some good steps so far this year, if he can move forward a bit in those other areas he would probably cement a spot.

I'm sure TM was waiting for a loss to move some guys in and out. I could see Kupari going down too, he's looked more and more out of place as the roadie went on. His possession is dropping rapidly, he's struggling in the circle, and he's not scoring despite a sky-high PDO.

Or it could just be both are hitting a wall, that was a pretty demanding trip with not much downtime. Either way those two are the prime candidates, I think.

If you haven't noticed, the pp has been the one bad spot before, and during the streak. 2 pp goals for and at least one against on the 4 game trip. That's bad. Tonight it hurt them, killed all their momentum and gave the jets life with the shorty. No killer instinct by the group.

Not blaming Cal on that OT goal, can’t give a guy an open one timer in the slot like that, Kopitar playing Schiefele way too loose, people are evaluating that one from the lens of the 2nd goal.

Can make the point they shouldn’t be in OT because of the 2nd one though.

I was yelling at my tv, telling them to stop f-ing around on the pp. There was nobody who wanted to score, just bad passes and weak dump ins. It ended up burning them.

It was because Kempe didn't attack the net, he just strolled in late and Anze ran out of options.

Then Anze gave the worst player on the ice tonight all the room he needed.

Not one of Kempes better games for sure. He was a hot mess most of the 2nd and it carried over at times in 3rd.

Iafollo wasn't very good either . Would've been nice if Iafollo had got his shot on net during his breakaway, instead of going full Wagner.

I'ts been a real problem on the PP, no one wants the puck, and no movement.

It's telling that the most success has been the unit with guys who haven't been programmed yet ths year, and the ones approaching it with a 5v5 mentality in the last years.
