GDT: 2021-22 season game 12 LA Kings vs Toronto Maple Leafs @4:30pm 11/8/21

What They're Saying : Campbell Loves Him Some Quickie Edition

KaberLeaf: Thought the Kings speed caused our D major issues.

IrishInOntario: Was impressed by the Kings. Thought they skated really well and collapsed well to their net defensively.

theTTC: On to the next game. Burn that tape.

IForget: Kings with a mild playoff style effort, and it's all too much for the boys...

Matthews GQ: Played like shit against a bottom feeding team, leave it to Toronto to always disappoint.

Twine Tickler: Every time the boys start to feel good about themselves, they lay an absolute egg. It is the most predictable thing in hockey. Ultimately, we got what we deserved.

Credit to LA, they came out hungry. They don't have a lot of high end players, but they played within their system excellent for the most part. They eliminated the time and space completely. As frustrating as it is to watch these type of games, we have to learn how to play against teams that are willing to skate like that. Hard work beats skill when skill doesn't work hard. Plain and simple.

It may have been a November game, but a lot of those guys on LA are playing to showcase their shit. Far more urgency on their end.

Aashir Mallick: I can’t believe we can’t score on JONATHAN QUICK, this isn’t Igor Shesterkin. This isn’t jake Allen. This isn’t Tristan jarry. This isn’t Kevin Lankinen. This is Jonathan quick. The same Jonathan quick who has sucked for the past 3 years.
Come on boys don’t go out with only 1 goal

TeddyBare: I'm telling yah
Muzzin is cooked as a defenseman.

Smif: Jake Muzzin is -9.

A1LeafNation: 7.5m muffin shot

Man Bear Pig: Jokes on L.A, we still got balding Spezza. Ages like fine wine.

Stephen: If it wasn’t for Quick’s Hall of Fame level goaltending and some random things here and there, this is probably a 3-2 sleepy, routine loss. Not the catastrophe that the 5-1 score would indicate.

34: Quick outclassed Campbell big time tonight, but I can’t **** on him because he has arguably been the Leafs MVP so far this season. I worry he is getting tired and will burn out.

LA was the better team tonight. NEXT please lol.

saffronleaf: Danault asserted his will over this team like it was second nature to him.

johnnybbadd: Danault has become the Leafs cryptonite and it’s great he went over to the West.

Aashir Mallick: Danault is Bergeron 2.0 to the leafs.
I’m starting to lose count on how many dads this teams got.

Griffin76: Danault just has a face that you want to punch.

Coachcorner: Ritchie looks so sharp, especially on the bench.
Needs to be benched, for real. Upstairs.
LA played smart, Danault is a real d-game sucka. For real I mean.

Amadeus: (Q. Did anyone play well tonight?)
Yep. Trevor Moore.

Darcy Tucker: Tonight I watched the Maple Leafs game and got zambonied.

DarkKnight: Only 9 pages after a loss, that has to be a record. This fan base is in a unique place.

REALTALK81: There hasn't been hunger in that locker room since 93 and I can't remember a time in my life where we had solid team D. No skilled grit in the top 6 since Clark and no team D equals disappointment decade after decade.

yubbers: Haven't celebrated a playoff win since 2004. Kids born on the day we lost that 2nd round, have their licenses now. LOL. This has nothing to do with 1 loss. It's over a decade of frustration.

Fantastic win. Five in a row, don't see that too often these days. Just gonna enjoy the hell out of it for now!

Richards never remotely played this dominant for the Kings. Danault is a beast.
Are you kidding me ?

Love Danault but this is ridiculous.

Mike Richards was the best LA player in the 2013 playoffs. Surprisingly people talk about 2012, I liked 2013 better.

He was already in decline with LA but after that injury he was never the same.

Agreed, both of those years he was outstanding when it counted most. Like you I love Danault but to claim he’s at Richards level after a handful of regular season games is mind boggling. Hopefully he gets there but he’s not there yet.

Hell even in the 2014 run when he was toast he still showed up in the highlight reel for some huge game/series defining moments.

Anyway, on another note, as others have said when Drew comes back, he should not be playing 26 minutes anymore. Thank Maatta for his service and send him off to waivers land and slot in Drew for 22 minutes. Big minutes isn't necessary at this point, but I don't have a lot of faith as Kopi is actually averaging more ice time this season than the last 2. Granted, it's easier minutes, but for cripesakes, please shave a minute or two off of our 34 year old 1C. The 3rd and 4th line are capable of a minute more each without the wheels falling off. Hell, last night I wanted to see MORE 3rd line and less 1st line in the 3rd period. I hope it's the kind of game tonight where he can play less than 20 minutes.

So that's the Muzzin that the leafs fans having been raving about. Keep him lol

I hate the leafs, let me preface that ... haha ... and im canadian so If i want to watch free hockey its usually me cheering against the leafs .. Muzz had a bad game, usually he's a warrior our their

The fact that we're even comparing Danault to Richards shows how valuable he has been, taking over on nights Kopitar doesn't and serving that 2C role that has always been so hard to fill. That enthusiasm he brings and making Iafallo a better player is worth every penny and then some. I'm hoping everyone has started to come around now.

"i don't even know if he has a curve in his stick" classic

love complaining about the refs and the "kick" though, it's just essential to being a leafs fan to ignore everything they do wrong
If there’s one thing he doesn’t do, it would be this.

Why in the wide wide world of sports was Brown out there during the open net? Up 4-1, it should be a reward time for those players that got them into the 4-1 lead. But no. Unearned ice-time Brownie gets the apple because he was out there during reward time. People will then say "well, he got an assist". No, he had a crap game.

All that said. Fantastic game by the other 3 lines. Hopefully the Danualt signing complaints will stop. Hopefully.

Why in the wide wide world of sports are bitching about Brown's deployment in a 4-1 game?

Because he was a huge part of giving away momentum to Toronto during every single shift he took in the second and third period up until the 5th in the empty net. The Kopitar lines shifts were essentially penalty kills all night because Gramps was totally lost in the pace of the game.
