Around the NHL: 2024-25 Season, Are You Not Entertained?

Granted, I suppose that would be the bigger threat to most teams at or over the cap - if you wind up with a player suspended due to being a malicious piece of shit, you have to play Hinstroza or Bjork as the replacement for that player during the suspension. Man, GM's would be down in the dressing rooms yelling at people to keep it clean then.

There is a real chance the bottom 5 in the league are all from the West. Has all bottom 5 teams in the league being from the same conference ever happened before?

2002, the East had the worst five, 2001 the East had four in a row at the bottom. There might be others. 2010 the East had the 2nd-8th worst teams in the league. league

Watching leafs Canucks. First shift pettersson looks out of his element.

Second shift throws a nice reverse hit and a beauty of an assist

Good job, you f***ing dumbass. While I don’t agree with it, I get some 63 year old drinking and then driving, because they’ve probably done it numerous times. But shit, you’re 20 and have grown up being taught how this shit ain’t cool. Call a goddamn Uber.

You’ve got a lot of misplaced confidence in the older generations taking accountability for their past mistakes, let alone passing any sort of advice or knowledge about not making those mistakes to the younger generation. It’s much easier and quicker to chalk it up to “we all made mistakes when we were young” at the very most.

I don’t think an older generation takes accountability for things. Just that they’ve probably driven drunk a few times, so they’re probably gonna be more careful to not get caught. Like I’m sure a 50+ year old, even though they know they shouldn’t drive drunk, is going to be more cautious as a whole, even if they speed. Whereas a 20 year old in junior hockey will think they’re indestructible, so eff the rules.

Like both instances are stupid and immature behaviour, but one group will have a bit of (deluded) thought process behind it. One thinks they’re just driving 5 blocks home, and the other is going out longer with their bros.

Regardless nobody should ever drive drunk. Call an uber or a cab or a friend or walk. It’s not worth the risk.

You'd think a hockey player in particular would know better especially after what happened to the Gaudreaus.

This is why I think a best on best tournament is best scheduled as an event that takes place late in the offseason and is more of a tune-up before training camp.

:dunno:

Drinking is too engrained in the culture of hockey for young guys who think they are bulletproof to learn such lessons.

As the dad of a college lacrosse player and someone who worked for a D1 hockey program when I was an undergrad, I know way too many cautionary tales of things that happen when college athletes party.

Thankfully, my kid knows that driving drunk can have hugely negative consequences for his career path of choice. That is likely to change his decision-making more than a tragic story of someone he's never met.

I will say that I did get a chuckle when Drew Doughty complained about "kids these days" that would rather go home and play online video games than go out and hang with the boys and pound beers.

Maybe there is some hope about things slowly getting better...
