2002, the East had the worst five, 2001 the East had four in a row at the bottom. There might be others. 2010 the East had the 2nd-8th worst teams in the league. league

You’ve got a lot of misplaced confidence in the older generations taking accountability for their past mistakes, let alone passing any sort of advice or knowledge about not making those mistakes to the younger generation. It’s much easier and quicker to chalk it up to “we all made mistakes when we were young” at the very most.

I don’t think an older generation takes accountability for things. Just that they’ve probably driven drunk a few times, so they’re probably gonna be more careful to not get caught. Like I’m sure a 50+ year old, even though they know they shouldn’t drive drunk, is going to be more cautious as a whole, even if they speed. Whereas a 20 year old in junior hockey will think they’re indestructible, so eff the rules.

Like both instances are stupid and immature behaviour, but one group will have a bit of (deluded) thought process behind it. One thinks they’re just driving 5 blocks home, and the other is going out longer with their bros.

Regardless nobody should ever drive drunk. Call an uber or a cab or a friend or walk. It’s not worth the risk.

As the dad of a college lacrosse player and someone who worked for a D1 hockey program when I was an undergrad, I know way too many cautionary tales of things that happen when college athletes party.

Thankfully, my kid knows that driving drunk can have hugely negative consequences for his career path of choice. That is likely to change his decision-making more than a tragic story of someone he's never met.

Given that my kid is 2 hours away at college, that isn't really an option...

Thankfully, most of the stuff in town is walkable. And he has let other guys drive drunk when they go to Syracuse to party.

I had that deal with my father and my kids have that with me. They have called me, though it was when the person who drove them somewhere started drinking.
