Transfers must sit one year unless receiving an NCAA waiver. Grad transfers are eligible for their new teams right away.

NCAA tournament starts today, Minnesota State up 3-0 on Harvard midway through the game and they're about to get a penalty shot. ESPNU/ESPN+ in case you needed entertainment.

I’ve liked Edwards each time watching this year, @StevenToddIves was he known for his hitting pre draft?
Not so much, but fortunately his improved play over the second half of this season with Michigan might be forcing me to eat my hat over my criticism of his selection in the 4th round of the 2020 draft.

Edwards' selection initially alarmed me, in that he was erratic defensively and good-but-not-great offensively for Spruce Grove of the USHL in his draft-eligible campaign. He was a wiry 5'11, and was often outmuscled for pucks and positioning. To me, he seemed like a 6/7 defender at best at the professional level, a guy who was not a true offensive nor defensive defenseman. However, his compete level was never in question, and he was always willing to battle and engage, and I think this has been at the forefront of his recent emergence.

Edwards is reputedly a gym rat and hard-worker, and looking at him it seems he's added 10+ pounds of muscle from the day he was drafted. He's playing more physically and winning more physical battles. His play both with and without the puck have improved to the degree that we can now probably consider him a potential 3rd pairing, two-way LD at the NHL level. The beginning of his NCAA season at Michigan was a bit rocky to say the least, but when Hughes and Power both left school for various tournaments, Edwards' role and responsibilities were increased and he seemed to thrive with the bump in minutes and reliance upon him.

Over the past month, I'd say Edwards has played the best hockey of his life. He's really engaging on both sides of the puck and I'm becoming very optimistic that perhaps I underestimated his potential. Though this makes me look bad, it's pretty much my favorite way to be wrong, and frankly I'm thrilled about it.

He all most cost Michigan the game today, or that’s how it was presented. The dude hit a rut but they made it sound like it was the dumbest mistake ever. I think that situation laid heavy on him, because he was jumpy after that. He left the front of the net to chase a player who was covered. With that said, they kept sending him out and he played better in the waining moments of the game.

So Luke Hughes. Reminiscent of Niedermayer skating, Jack Hughes at 6'2 playing defense, Cale Makar. All things running through my head watching him play as the youngest player in college hockey. Given the stratospheric improvement shown by Jack and Quinn as 19 and 20 year Olds, I don't know what to expect out of Luke other to say he is a better prospect at 18 than Jack regardless where he is playing.

He would be auto drafted number 1 in a redraft and the hype train is gaining momentum.

I posted this stuff in the AHL thread but it probably makes more sense here, so I’m throwing it in this thread too.

It’s a nice signing, I was intrigued by the guy when I read about him.

The Halonen signing is year another indication Tom Fitzgerald wants to compliment the high-skill, high-speed Devils core with some interior and physical players who are also good at hockey, which is an extremely wise strategy. Nice signing.

Michigan Tech's second leading scorer after Halonen is named "Trenton Bliss" which are two words that have otherwise never been used in a sentence together ever

Did the Matrix’s name generator break or something?

If I saw a script with characters named Trenton Bliss & Reed Lobster…

Edit: damn it’s Lebster, not Lobster and I’m genuinely disappointed. Not taking this down just because I can’t read so good. Pouring one out for Reed Lobster tho.

Reed Lebster is still borderline hilarious.

I took a Chinese literature class in college because I needed credits and it fit my schedule such that I didn't have any Friday classes [21-year-old decision making skills]. It was completely over my head and the only thing I remember is that one character's name translated as "Mountain Dew".
