Question on this though, in 3 years, the contract renewal on this guy could be higher than Doughty. Does a team want 20-25 million between two back end players?

But if you give up the farm now, all of them will still be on entry level deals giving us way more flexibility in building the team.

I guess it comes down to who is in the deal of this LA Kings page pipe dream.

Not being contenders is correct but bringing in someone vocal with leadership skills is key to developing whatever young players are on the roster after the TDL. Even if it is just one season, unless you think continuing to expose them to silent leaders is enough?

People are still struggling to find a way to win something with Kopitar and Doughty on the roster. I can assure all of you, the Kings aren't winning jack with Kopitar in his current role and on his current contract, and likely won't if he remains on the roster beyond that time.

Not saying we should trade for Gio, but this is spot on. Having Ignila for a couple of months was amazing. This man was a true leader. I wish we had someone like that on our team.

This is just the regular fanboy fiction
Yes, every team would have good use for Chyrum, but do we need him so bad that we destroy our future
just to have him?
We are already 6th in the NHL in goals against, there is not too much room for improvement.
What we really need is reliable offense to get back in the game.
Chyrum would cost exactly what we have in development to fill this role to barely upgrade a position of no need.

Thank goodness this is just fantasy rumbling

The Kings have too many prospects and not enough spots. He is exactly who they should target. Byfield should not be on the table tho.

No, it doesn't have to have anything to do with Kopitar and Doughty.

Chychrun is 23, I don't know why some folks are acting like he's a 27 year old UFA. He fits BOTH Doughty's AND Clarke's timelines nearly perfectly--that's my thought on it.

Now if you want to say he's not worth the trade value, you're not sold on his ability/unproven, sure--but it's got nothing to do with 'rushing'. This is one of the Kings' two major prospect weaknesses with the ability of being addressed with a sure thing (LHD, G) so of course it's worth discussion.

People will have major philosophical disagreements here and that's fine--we need to (not you @KINGS17, this is a general observation) not be at each other's throats for differing opinions here.

...unless you're basing it solely on plus/minus, lol, Show yourself the exit :laugh:
