I don't think he'd have triple the amount of Top 5 Selke noms, nor do I think he'd have 3 more of them. He'd probably have more points, but significantly more?

It's all a hypothetical though so you can only go based off of what they do. Bergeron has won about 60% of the faceoffs he's taken and he's taken about 200 more than Kopitar in about 150 fewer games. That's huge and it has nothing to do with linemates. He's also got an advantage on all of the advanced stats too.

Look, I love Anze and all he's done, but Bergeron is a better two way player. Saying Anze is the 3rd or 4th most decorated/accomplished/talented two-way forward in the history of the NHL isn't a knock.
You’re kidding right??
On the points side, you give him pasta and the little rat and he’d be up much higher in points.. laughably so in fact!
Kopitar is a far superior offensive player than he gets credit for, even now he’s superior in every offensive way to Bergeron.
Defensively, they’re a wash… with Kopi having played 5k more minutes.

i think you’re going to see a bunch of cancellations in all 3 sports. The Rams just put 9 more players on the Covid list. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Olympics and WJC cancelled as well.

Cancelling the former would be poetic justice. Also, who in their right mind would risk being put into quarantine (aka prison) for 5 weeks if you have a positive test.

This season shots:
Getzlaf 59
Kopitar 75

2020-21
Getzlaf 70 (1.46/gm)
Kopitar 118 (2.12/gm)

2019-20
Getzlaf 143 (2.07/gm)
Kopitar 135 (1.93/gm)

2018-19
Getzlaf 133 (1.99/gm)
Kopitar 156 (1.93/gm)

2017-18
Getzlaf 117 (2.09/gm)
Kopitar 200 (2.44/gm)

2016-17
Getzlaf 138 (1.86/gm)
Kopitar 150 (1.97/gm)

What I'm saying is a select few are complaining about Kopitar for the same reasons Ducks fans complain about Getzlaf. And remark that Getzlaf is the better captain even though Kopitar's only been captain for half a dozen years.

Kopitar's not infallible, but this glorifying of a different player to be some elite and superior leader is hilariously silly. Kopitar's been front and center of the Kings for 14 years, playing in all roles and situations for Crawford, Murray, Sutter, Stevens, Desjardins, and McLellan. The Ducks tried to beat the Kings by bringing in Kesler to counter what Kopitar did (while also being the top scorer on the team in the regular season and playoffs). This assertion he's a bad leader because he's not a pugilistic meathead is laughable.

I never compared their skillset. I compared their leadership qualities which one player displays a lot more of.

Can you imagine if Bergeron had Brown on his wing? 18 years ago...in 2003 draft year, one scout could see it "I'm not sold on his skillset or IQ...he plays the game more like football"
18 years later, he's carved out a pretty remarkable career....but he's yet to make a single top 6 level play this entire year, yet a decent ECHL level player could make a few by now.

What he had, esp. in the playoffs, missing since he left. No leadership has cost the Flyers. He had a sharp set of fangs and knew how to use them. Sacrificed himself to get the job done. Best I saw him was the 2010 2nd rd. vs Bruins, not just the 12 pts in 7 games, but everything else he did on every shift.

Danny Briere said he never played with anyone who sacrificed himself in order to win more than Richards. Richards identified Chara in that series, and went up against him on almost every shift, taking a pounding in front of the net and on the boards behind. He knew he it would take a toll on him (and it did ) but he never let down. And it worked, Briere said they saw what he did and couldn't wait to get on the ice for their shift.
It's why he collected so many championships.

The stars are aligning. Friedman reporting that the Coyotes are fielding offers for Chychrun. Cost would be high, but this is the type of player we’ve been waiting to become available for a long time now, and we have the assets…
Checked his games played. Average 58 games a year. That with his diving & where the D (future) is, wouldn't go much past Vilardi + 1st.

I was going to post the same, just read it on the trade boards.

We are now live, people.

Also would like to add AZ will probably be forced to trade him at some point. Chychrun is expected to hold up his end of the contract. AZ is also expected to ice a decent team & not build a team of cap dumps. Playing that contract out in AZ will hurt Chychrun's next contract. Could also turn him into a shell shocked D where he plays in scramble mode constantly for the next 2-3 years. Can you recovery from that?

Wow...that's a first, can't recall an NHL player potentially having to halt his career for military service

Roster Notes: Lehkonen, Korpisalo, Maple Leafs

The Finnish government released a list of names this week that included professional athletes who had not completed their required military service. All male citizens of Finland are conscripted to serve a certain number of days – 165, 255 or 347 days depending on the assignment – of military service and must meet this requirement between the ages of 18 and 28. Blue Jackets goaltender Joonas Korpisalo turns 28 this spring and has yet to complete any of his required service. Well, Columbus’ regular season does not end until April 29 and the team currently sits just one spot outside of playoff position as well. Korpisalo’s response to the possibility of missing time because of conscription: “If they want to come get me, come get me. I’m not leaving during my season."

He has little choice as the Finnish government will not renew his passport if he does not complete his required service before turning 29, making it impossible for him to travel to North America let alone play in the NHL.

He would be a good add , depending on the cost and what other teams are willing to send back

Arizona Coyotes Set Asking Price For Jakob Chychrun - NHL Rumors - NHLTradeRumors.Me

According to The Fourth Period, Arizona is asking for two first-round picks for defenseman Jakob Chychrun. This was revealed on The NHL Network.

Then again, he's their best player, wouldn't they want to build a team around him?

Two first round picks, done, in a heart beat done, what, they want a young A prospect as well, done like dinner.

That's a no brainer from the Kings.

6. Arizona GM Bill Armstrong refused to comment when asked, but it now sounds like the Coyotes are gauging the market on Jakob Chychrun. I’ve heard the ask is massive, but that doesn’t mean opponents are running away. He’s signed for three more years at a very reasonable $4.6 million AAV and is a terrific player. This is one to watch.

#1 2022, Vilardi, Grans, Pinelli enough?

I would do it for Chychrun though. That's a huge return but the Kings don't have a #1 LD in the system.

Chychrun - Doughty
Bjornfot - Clarke
Anderson - Faber

Not if I'm the Coyotes GM and allowed to negotiate.

Don't these guys usually get that done in the summers? That's a couple weeks to a month every year for 10 years.

if Chychrun goes to another team I will be pissed. This is the exact player LA needs at a great contract, and LA has the assets to do it.

You're missing one name and it starts with a "C"...
