Just look at Gibson. Stellar start to his career and but then the last couple years don't seem so good.

Kings coach Todd McLellan on rebuilding strides, a competitive camp and important veteran additions: Q&A

He mentions Tkachev as a key addition and says they aren’t starting with Iafallo Kopitar Brown as a line to begin camp. But acknowledges they may end up there. Overall, he sounds like a man with a little patience for players coming off down years. My guess is Wagner, Lemieux, Grundstrom and Maata are on the hot seat.

Plus, the guy can't stay healthy. He's good for 10 plus games [sometimes more] on the IR a year. The duck should've moved him 3 years ago when his stock was high. They needed a rebuild more than us.

Blake has brought in a lot of tools to improve this team. More so than Blake, T MAC is probably on the hot seat if he can't be more productive with this line up.

TMac's interview with The Athletic was short, but packed a lot more nuggets of info than you'd expect. My two big takeways:

1. Tkachev was listed with Arvidsson and Danault as veteran forward additions, not with the prospect/up-and-comer crew
2. He called out by name all of the candidates for 3/4C, including Lizotte as someone who could lose a spot in training camp

More likely: Kalyev to Ontario, Wagner/Lizotte in #13/4 with Andersson and Lemieux in the top 12 to start. That said jobs are there to win and lose but if we end up with a bottom 6 of:

Lemieux - JAD - Moore

Then it’s been an almost perfect camp.

If Tkachev isn’t up to it Kempe to 2 LW and Moore slides up to the top 9. If Byfield forces his way onto the roster then who knows what they do because a big name will have to go. No one that is forced out of the top 9 is suited to a 4th line role, so it would get very interesting. We could easily see a shocking move made.

I just don’t get where Athanasiou fits with the current roster setup.

I don’t think it will happen but, it would be so awesome if Chromiak even got 3-4 games with the Kings at the beginning of the season. I think he could be a dominant player at the WJC this winter.

To be fair, Mr. TITB, my eyes go to the 3 hole pretty quickly as well.
