Man that TM interview/Athletic write up got me all pumped up.

Essentially should be the most cutthroat camp ever and no one is safe”we really don’t care who plays on our team. We just want to have a good team.” Seems to acknowledge that Blake went out and got the pieces and now it’s on coaching to assemble them so that players can perform.

Also not explicitly state of course but reading between the lines it seems like Tkachev has a spot to lose.

Looks like the camp groups got put into a blender.
Training Camp is UNDERWAY! - LA Kings Insider

GROUP A
Viktor Arvidsson – Anze Kopitar – Dustin Brown
Trevor Moore – Gabe Vilardi – Arthur Kaliyev
Brendan Lemieux – Blake Lizotte – Lias Andersson
Tyler Madden – Rasmus Kupari – Samuel Fagemo

Mikey Anderson – Drew Doughty
Olli Maatta – Jordan Spence
Tobias Bjornfot – Matt Roy

Jonathan Quick
Matthew Villalta

GROUP B
Vladimir Tkachev – Phillip Danault – Alex Iafallo
Adrian Kempe – Jaret Anderson-Dolan – Austin Wagner
Carl Grundstrom – Aidan Dudas – Martin Chromiak
Johan Sodergran – Francesco Pinelli – Martin Frk

Alex Edler – Sean Walker
Christian Wolanin – Sean Durzi
Kale Clague – Austin Strand

Cal Petersen
Jacob Ingham

GROUP C
Brayden Burke – Quinton Byfield – Andreas Athanasiou
Logan Morrison – Alex Turcotte – Adam Johnson
Brett Kemp – TJ Tynan – Lorenzo Canonica
Tye McSorley – Brett Hyland – Jacob Doty
Brett Sutter – Nikita Pavlychev

Jacob Moverare – Landon Kosior
Markus Phillips – Cameron Supryka
Dylan Robinson – Cameron Gaunce
Cade McNelly

Garrett Sparks
Lukas Parik
John Lethemon

Very intriguing, especially the Tyler Madden – Rasmus Kupari – Samuel Fagemo and Vladimir Tkachev – Phillip Danault – Alex Iafallo lines. The Kupari line has some top end skill and could mesh well. The Danault line has two defensively responsible guys, which will allow Tkachev to focus on skill and scoring.

This is going to be a fun camp. Can't wait until they get rid of the dead weight like Lizzote and Wagner. Those players are fine when you don't have options, but there are so many young players that are knocking at the door this year to stuff them all in the AHL.

I read this as..

Viktor Arvidsson – Anze Kopitar – Dustin Brown
Vladimir Tkachev – Phillip Danault – Alex Iafallo
Trevor Moore – Gabe Vilardi – Arthur Kaliyev
Adrian Kempe – Jaret Anderson-Dolan – Austin Wagner
Brendan Lemieux – Blake Lizotte – Lias Andersson

Mikey Anderson – Drew Doughty
Alex Edler – Sean Walker
Tobias Bjornfot – Matt Roy
Who knows

Take out Kayliev and insert AA.

I have a feeling one of Wagner/Lizotte or both end up on waivers.

Wow, maybe I should pay more attention to this Tkachev guy. Seems like a good bet to get into the top 6. Sneaky guy to grab in my dynasty league

I mentioned to Hoven at the time of the Danault signing how Danault played with Gallagher and did well with him. Tkachev played a lot like him as far as north-south/attack-the-net style.

Bigger concern is the lack of a puck hound on Kopitar's camp line. Retrievals aren't really Arvidsson's game, and lord knows Brown won't put in that work. Could be a whole lot of one and dones with that unit.

Let's just hope Kopidor looks alive and ready. That'd be a nice change of pace. And hopefully they've done enough electro therapy on him to wipe the can opener from his memory.

Agreed. I'm all for Arvidsson on Kopitar's line provided there's a viable retriever. Someone like Iafallo or Moore. If they want to throw a rookie in there, Turcotte has the best base talent level plus willingness to get dirty.

+1
I'd like to see Moore with the chance. But anyone named Moore, Turcotte, Iafallo, Arty, Andersson, Kempe, etc. (i.e., not Brown) would be niiiiice.

I'll believe it when I see it. Coaches always say stuff like this.

Fair, I think. But with SIXTY SIX guys...we're going to see some unusual movement imo. At least, I'll have faith, between that and the forechecking comments, they'll get a leash from me unless it proves to be a lie.

Will they do physicals and release info like height and weight. I am interested in seeing if some of the younger guys got taller or put on some weight?

I think Arvidsson will do well with Kopi. Nashville's centres the past few years have been way underperforming (Duchene/Johansen) and you know Kopi will bring it every night. I'd say Arvidsson hits 27 goals is my guess.

Hmm. Will he though? He's older now. And he didn't look all too hot last year.

Yup. People give TMac a lot of rope for no reason other than he might look like a cute panda that no one wants to indirectly speak bad of.

TMac has done nothing to inspire hope to Kings fans to suggest he's a competent coach. I think he certainly communicates with media what needs to be done but I've not see it in action.

Name one tangible difference between Coach Todd’s teams and John Steven’s. They look the same to me. When he arrived the talk was playing a more offensive brand of hockey. That got snuffed out by game 25 of his first season. The guy is here to carry Blake’s water and be the bad guy. He’s there to crack the whip on guys like Kempe and Walker and kiss the vets asses behind closed doors. He was a hack when hired and remains a hack today.

His quotes about getting better tomorrow’s and not discussing playoffs before one exhibition game is classic proactive ass covering. This clown has been given a roster supposedly stacked with old, middle and young talent with a near max cap hit. But he’s not ready to put his nuts on the line and talk playoffs. In one sentence he says the team is capable of it, in the next breath he questions whether they will do it. What exactly is the $5M a year salary for?

Way to go out on a limb Todd, because it’s not like you have a role to play /s. My dislike of Blake reflects in his choice of coach. Two guys treading water, who couldn’t tell you the plan 1 month from now on any given day and coasting on the laurels they achieved on winning teams where they were a supporting cast player.
