I like both Bjornfot and Anderson alot however I don't see much of a offensive upside to them. This team needs better offense from the defense which is why one will have to go. Also we need some size to clear out the slot

Having Doughty on the 1st and Clarke on the 2nd pairing provides exactly that in my humble opinion.
Bjornfoot and Anderson are the perfect partners to provide the stay at home support for their offensive adventures.

Our team actual scoring wingers and a fresh coaching staff who are adapting to the new NHL style.
This can be addressed in a couple of years with the arrival of Kaliev and Fagemo.

Clarke is at least 2 years from a cup of coffee in the nhl and then probably another 2 before getting the offense we need from him. I want someone in the mean time and if it happens to be lhd we can pair him with Clarke or doughty it would make our pp a hell of alot better.

The reason Chychrun is appealing is the same reason Danault/Eichel are/were appealing--they represent a great player of a perfect age to bridge between the old elite players and the new.

Kopitar -> Danault -> Byfield
Doughty -> Chychrun -> Clarke

But yeah might have just been Blake hyperinflating the market too lol. Who knows. I believe he's truly looking but the prices are probably f***ing looney--as they should be. Some teams have been looking for defensemen like the above for years upon years, and if you can get a top 3 of Doughty-Chychrun-Clarke (Roy-Anderson-Bjornfot etc) you're looking like a contender.

Assuming Chychrun wants out (who wouldn't), there are only a handful of teams that can afford him given cap constraints. We can stay under the cap by sending money back, and he may be the one missing piece in an otherwise strong organizational depth chart. He's young enough to still be here when the prospects develop, and he has likely not yet reached his full potential. What does a trade look like? I think trading our 20223 1st rounder would be a no-brainer (Arizon already has 3 #1s in 2022). We would have to add 2 top prospects (Turcotte or Vilardi plus Faber or Bjornfot) and middle prospect (Thomas or Fagemo). Also, Wagner or Maata would need to go to offset salary. Given our depth, this is doable.

Don't have to send money back if it's a mid season trade. Wolanin and his $750k buried to the AHL to make room on the roster.

It would definitely take that kind of overpayment given the sweetheart deal he's on. Doable but is it wise? Would almost rather put a few more cap dollars into signing Ekholm next summer.

Yeah, but in a trade for Chychrun we're probably sending a young Dman the other way. Bjornfot or Clarke would probably be part of the deal.

4 years for an 8th overall pick, who by all accounts could've gone higher? That's a long time.

I am not saying its right or wrong but the kings tend to have players in the minors for longer then most teams. I think the kings let him play then the wjt then back to his jr team. The following season at the Ahl until roughly Feb / march, At this time he may get a game or two in the nhl. He would make the team in year 3 but only playing bottom mins so not as much offensive opportunity. Year 4 he would have earned the pp time and more offensive zone starts.

Can someone post projected lines. I am curious where Edler slots in your D. Thanks.
I think Edler will end up on the third pair with Walker. Probably many combinations will be tried so nobody knows yet. They have 9-11 dmen that could take a spot really.
Anderson - Doughty
Bjornfot - Roy
Edler - Walker
Maatta
With Moverare, Clague, Strand, and Wolanin getting a shot also.

Forwards are harder to predict because there's just so many moving parts that you can only lock down a couple guys like Kopitar, Iafallo, Arvidsson and Danault are for sure in the top 6 and then everyone else is up in the air. Defense should be straight forward.

Anderson-Doughty
Bjornfot-Roy
Edler-Walker
Maatta

I think people here are underestimating Elder. I think he plays with Roy on the 2nd pairing with 1st mins pp. Kings didn't sign him to play bottom minutes. Remember he was playing top four minutes in Vancouver

I think it is far more likely that Bjornfot is sent to Ontario and Roy partners with either Clague or possibly Moverare if either of those players who don't have waiver safety earns their chance in camp.

That is very possible that one of Clague or Moverare makes the kings. However it will only be one and it will be a sink or swim of 10 games before either waivered or ahl then Bjornfot comes up. I also think the kings will end up waiving them as they want to make the playoffs this year and can't wait more then 10 games for them to show there nhl worthy

No I am saying our coaching staff will not rush a player period. Clarke will have to earn his playing time. There is no need to rush him. I would love to be proven wrong on this but this is best for the player and our team.

That's what I was told by Dan Beckerman when I did my study back in 2003. Obviously, the information is dated, and things may have changed since then, but I don't believe so. Bob Miller always had the ability to be more critical of the team and was not shy about it.
I agree with ATKM here , I have always known it to be where the announcers are hired/fired/employed by the team

Edit- I googled

The Los Angeles Kings have named Alex Faust as the Kings’ new television play-by-play announcer, it was announced today by the Kings and FOX Sports West.
The Kings and Faust have agreed to terms on a multi-year contract
