Davis and Faust are very similar, the biggest difference between the two is that one gets to call games for a team that wins a lot and the other has to call games for a team that loses a lot.

Also Davis gets to work with Hershiser.

So in addition to tennis, our PBP guy is going to call illustrious events like Boise State vs Fresno. With NBC losing TV rights, maybe Faust was looking to replace supplemental income. I’m glad Bob was paid enough to keep the Kings as his full time job.

As a BSU alum, I’d be happy with Faust calling games on the Blue. The guy needs to make $$ right?

I think he will be waiver fodder, but really people (including myself) tend to shit on guys like Wagener for his lack of finish instead of giving props in putting himself in scoring positions.

I dislike Faust because, unlike Bob Miller, who called play-by-play as if his life depended on it, it seems Faust is more concerned with being popular or making Jim Fox laugh or being "woke".


Bob Miller tried and tried really, really hard until his body wouldn't let him do it any more. You could hear the passion in the man's voice every night. Faust just doesn't have that sort of work ethic or commitment to taking things seriously.


If Faust did his job with a round, rubber red nose and/or wearing a hat with dangling jingle bells stranding off the top, it wouldn't look out of place.

Can you make one single f***ing post without invoking politics? You're only lucky that part is so transparently stupid that no one will interact with it otherwise you'd be racking up infractions.

My point was you can like or dislike Faust--clearly you dislike him and that's fine--but he's good enough at his job that he's in high demand on national and other telecasts.

And that comparing him to Bob Miller is an unrealistically high standard for a young broadcaster...starting a career vs. a hall of famer...give the guy a break from THAT standpoint at least, even if the critiques are fair.

Last Season I probably watched the Kings feed a half a dozen times and was constantly let down. I think the comparison to other teams broadcast really highlighted how weak ours is. It really seemed like less of a hockey broadcast and more of a daytime talk show in a lot of ways. There is almost never any mention of out of town scores or highlights/news from around the league. Instead there is a focus on human interest pieces, it's like they saw the response of bark madness and decided to lean even more into it. This also is apparent in the play by play where fox/Faust are like good buddies talking college football and wine instead of calling the game. For everyone saying it's because the Kings suck, Nickson and Evans have no problem discussing the actual game. Further, Faust seems to still not understand some really basic aspects of the sport still despite being with the team for years now. He misses calls frequently and oftentimes feels lost trying to figure out what is happening. I'm sure Faust would be a good Jeopardy host, he wouldn't be my choice, but I can see him doing fine there. I just am not a fan of his with the Kings.

I don't have a problem with Alex Faust or Joe Davis etc. It's obvious that they're both National broadcast quality and maybe that's not your cup of tea. It's a broadcasting style that has to appeal to neutral fans as well as homers. I only really have issues with broadcasters if they're offensively bad or have a clear lack of objectivity.

Nick Nickson is a hidden gem that does not get the appreciation he deserves because he is on Radio no TV. Should have taken over for Miller.

I think last seasons broadcast sucked mainly cause of covid. Many times they had to watch the game from a tv screen. Granted I do agree the kings broadcast in general could use some improvement. But Faust has gotten some high praise from other fans around the league. Look at his call of Tampa Vs Florida. Tons of people were talking about how good he was. We were spoiled with Bob, but Faust is a decent PbP announcer. I think people get so caught up in his quarks. But he has a good voice for the game.

Joe Davis > Faust

Faust does do a better job nationally than when he's calling Kings games. I think a lot of the problem is that he has no on air chemistry with Fox and tries to crack too many jokes/yuck it up with Fox on the Kings telecast. Problem with that is he's not funny.
