I wouldn’t mind dangling Kupari while his value is still solid. Frees up a roster spot for one of the more promising prospects while hopefully filling a need in the process.

You need a roster spot, you move Wagner or Lizotte. You are not filling any holes by moving Kupari now alone in a deal. He needs to establish himself as a NHL regular first.

Completely disagree on Kupari being speed only. Prior to his injury I may have agreed. But last season in Ontario his play changed my mind. I also thought that he was going to purely be a winger but now I'm not so sure he can't play center. I watched every game as an AHL TV subscriber. I'm also going to subscribe for this upcoming season as the team is going to be stacked again.

Kupari is a complete top-6 or bust one trick pony at this point.

When his speed fails to beat the D, he runs out of tricks & becomes the poster boy for ineffective perimeter play, without any tangible positives on the defensive side of the puck. Unless he finds some more tools for his toolbox, I do not see him being an NHL player for very long, especially not on the kings, without tremendous growth.

Are you sure we are talking about the same player?
Kupari is a dominant puck carrier and set up man.

He is great at carrying the puck, on the premier, and avoiding the high danger areas off the cycle.

Like I said, when he fails to beat defenders with his speed, he is largely ineffective at this point, and it’s something that he dearly needs to develop to make it to the top-6 of an NHL roster.

Kupari is also a right handed center. Something the Kings are short on right now.
He won’t be playing C in LA, not long term. Danault, Byfield, Kopitar are the long term 1-2-3, with JAD likely the 4C. Vilardi, Turcotte, Kupari will move to wing and/or get moved as there isn’t room for them at C and maybe only 2 of them at wing. I just don’t see where Kupari fits long term, if the likes of Kalyev hit.

I like all 3 players but at some point a high level LHD will be acquired and at least one of those guys is moved. Clarke means the LHD doesn’t need to be an offensive juggernaut but they want a genuine top pairing guy if possible. I’d still chase Byram if it were me and he’s costing more than just one of those aforementioned three Centers that will have to move to wing. We have the assets though and that position is where Blakes makes his big move and likely has to overpay asset wise to get his guy, given everyone knows how badly we need to fill that spot.

I'm a Kupari fan, but I can see your reasoning here. It's not as bad as you are leading on but I totally see it.

I had a thought that Kopitar is retiring when his contract is up and they signed Danault to be the veteran down the middle long term. Kopitar can still play at a high level for years after but I can definitely see him calling it.

Kupari will mostly switch to wing with the depth at center the team has. It will still be handy to have a right handed wing that can take faceoffs.

Seems like a lot of invitees. I know Thomas is hurt but what's the deal with Kaliyev?
I think I remember reading something about a family matter
