It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.
Happy Byf-Day?Happy Byfield B-day everyone!

Or even better LTIR like the Blackhosers doWorse comes to worse, they can Jeff Gillooly a few guys and put them on IR I guess
I therefore am assuming that they have budgeted to allow the possibility that at least one or two guys do have to go to Ontario and earn their NHL salaries. I’m sure they don’t want that to happen but if for example they decide Byfield or Turcotte is 100% ready they aren’t worrying about Lizotte clearing waivers, they will just have to risk it and will swallow it if needed.
Lizotte and Grundy would get claimed IMO but the rest will pass through, both may be worth a pick. Wagner and Frk have no value on the market from what I have seen. Dunno, it’s complicated and you are right it’s a great problem to have.
That's why I said I could see it happening at the start... a month. Maybe two.
But at some point if one of the prospects proves that they need to be in the lineup today instead of another player... then that replaced player has far more value as a trade piece than as a drain on financial resources and ice time in Ontario.
EDIT: and YOU may not be worried about Lizotte or Grundstrom getting claimed on waivers... but the just completed draft should make it perfectly clear the value of having extra late round draft picks to maneuver with.
If there are too many prospects ready to make the jump that the Kings are putting 3 or 4 players on waivers that have serious NHL experience.... then trade them.
I should stop before I get fired.
What will we do with Latka? There will be no taxi squad this season.
What will we do with Latka?
Hi everyone.
For those who don’t subscribe to THG. He’s not an insider or anything, just a fan of the Game who does a nice job of keeping up with the NHL and puts out a fair amount of content, which is nice during the off-season.
I thought some of you might enjoy his Season preview for the Team during these slow news days of August, or perhaps share this with someone just learning about your Team.
I find that although THG isn’t the most exciting personality, he breaks things down nicely for those newer to the Game or looking for regular content of the non-biased variety.
Cheers,
Oh, and some memes for @LT Dan & @Ziggy Stardust

That's because he is in Vancouver. No east coast biasUnlike the many East coast press people, THG actually watches some Kings games. His commentary on the King's is pretty good most of the time.
Also a fan of Vilardi.
The black cat is named Shadow.
Me tooThank you
I actually love THG's analysis
Under normal circumstances I’d agree completely and I know fully you get this stuff far better than I do (you’re also more objective). However the flat cap skews everything. My take is that right now teams want cheap players on their roster and if a spot is going to be available it will go to one of their prospects as opposed to someone they claim. Those guys are on ELC’s, are waiver exempt and that they have full contract control over. They will, also have their own Lizottes that they don’t want to waive unless they have to. I just don’t see bottom 6/bubble guys on a bottom 8 team (20/21) being that high on the list of wants for many teams at all and even fewer that will want to give up picks for these guys. They are on RFA deals, have one way contracts and add in that they are not waiver exempt, it just makes them unattractive. That's why I said I could see it happening at the start... a month. Maybe two.

He’s great. I usually watch one of his videos daily. As was said he’s no insider, and doesn’t pretend to be, but he has a decent understanding of what’s going on in the league and is a better source of game reviews than both nhl.com and TSN in my view. Great guy that seems to quite like LA also. He must live hockey 24 x 7 x 365.Thank you

They just loaned Helenius to the Finnish club. My guess is his contract now officially slides.Confused on something. Late last week (or early this week?), there was a bunch of board chatter about how we reached 50 of 50 contracts. Now the Cap Friendly site is saying we're @ 49/50 (it said 50/50 just a couple of days ago!!).

Are peeps miscounting?
Thanks!!!
Yep is it a true meritocracy or not?
If we lost someone to waivers, like Lizotte, I would not be stressing. We are at the contract limit (-1 if you slide Clarke) and we do not have enough spots. Only waiver players I would care about are Clague and Grundstrom, and even then its not by much. Many of these guys are on their way out after this season anyways.Any forward making over $1m is safe I think, so that's 10 guys. Grundstrom, Lizotte, and Frk have 1 way deals, but no cap hit if they get sent down. Andersson, Tynan, and Burke on 2 way deals. Then the ELCs. You figure Vilardi has a spot since he played a full season in the NHL. That's 11 guys all but locked in. They have 28 forwards under contract that will play pro, plus 3-5 guys on AHL only deals. Even if they lose someone on waivers, they have plenty of guys to fill in.
