Hello everynyan!

Habs fan interested on knowing on which line would Danault be playing on. Can I see 1 or 2 projected roster lineup?

I think you will like the player. Very responsible on the ice but sometimes frustrating offensively.

Thank you.

The way I see it...

(lines aren't lines etc)

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Kempe-Danault-Arvidsson
Athanasiou-?-Moore

are locks to play "Top 9" minutes. For contractual reasons, on ice contributional reasons... those guys aren't bubble players. Athanasiou and Moore didn't sign new deals with the Kings because the Kings "aren't sure" about what they bring.

Tkaychyov is a total mytery to me.

Vilardi, Anderson-Dolan, Lias Andersson young enough and enough flexibility with 13/28 on contract status to have plenty of rope left.

Wagner, Lizotte, Grundstrom, Lemiuex, Frk... this is where we get into "too many guys" territory.

I really don't see Vilardi or JAD going back to Ontario and I could list all the reasons why (but I won't) but I absolutely cannot imagine any of those five guys being risked on waivers to go earn full NHL checks on the Reign. Not that I would be worried about "losing" those players to a waiver claim but surely... SURELY they have more value as assets than just *shrug* "oh well they got claimed"

SURELY!

and then there's the blue line........

maybe the team rides out some of those guys in Ontario for a few weeks (if they cleared waivers) or maybe they send JAD/Vilardi/Bjornfot/Anderson all back to Ontario just to make everything fit in nice pretty boxes but my suspicion is the between today and November 1st there will be trades.

Because they have TOO MANY GUYS

None of this is based on any conversations I have had with anybody on the Kings this is all my own personal speculation after starting at rosters and spreadsheets for weeks on end.

McLellan is a hack. He’ll continue to play the guys who earn the most money. He knows the team he has won’t cut it over 82 games, so he’s not going to go down with the ship by playing kids. Blake is no different. If you lose with guys who are getting paid, you can point fingers at scapegoats. If you lose with kids, the finger gets pointed at management for not knowing what to do with the resources they’ve been given.

Doesn't matter what team you are, nobody is sending half their NHL money 1 way contracts to the AHL. Maybe one, and two is stretching it. Granted, more fun to rip on management's incompetence as the reason 15 guys won't be 22 years of age and under.

The way I see it, there’s room for one rookie amongst the forwards. One of JAD, Byfield, Kaliyev, or Tkachev makes the team.

If it’s JAD
Kempe Kopitar Brown
iafallo Danault Arvidsson
Andersson Vilardi Athanasiou
Moore JAD Grundstrom/Lemieux
Lizotte

if it’s one of the others
Kempe Kopitar Rookie
Iafallo Danault Arvidsson
Andersson Vilardi Brown
Athanasiou Lizotte Moore
Grundstrom/Lemieux

my money is on Kaliyev, making the “AK” line.

Here's my best crack at a lineup in which all prospects who are exempt from waivers are sent down to Ontario.

Iafallo - Kopitar - Arvidsson
Kempe - Danault - Brown
Athanasiou - Andersson - Moore
Grundstrom - Lizotte - Lemieux
Frk, Wagner

Edler - Doughty
Clague - Roy
Wolanin - Walker
Maatta

Quick
Petersen

The only players who would need to clear waivers are Tynan, Burke, Strand, Moverare, and Sparks.

Players available to Ontario (although I am by no means a Reign expert) are:

Turcotte - Byfield - Kaliyev
Fagemo - Vilardi - Kupari
Anderson-Dolan - Thomas - Tkachev
Sodergran - Dudas

Anderson - Strand
Bjornfot - Spence
Moverare - Grans
Phillips - Durzi

Villalta
Sparks
Ingham
Parik

If I'm being honestly, with the exception of Moore, everyone outside the top six is easily replaceable.

Zero chance Mikey gets sent down.

You are 100% correct but given the way Blake has planned everything so far, being fairly measured I think it’s in conceivable that he will risk the development of a key piece to play someone like Wagner on the NHL roster. Blake must also know that there is no guarantee he will be able to trade everyone he no longer needs. I therefore am assuming that they have budgeted to allow the possibility that at least one or two guys do have to go to Ontario and earn their NHL salaries. I’m sure they don’t want that to happen but if for example they decide Byfield or Turcotte is 100% ready they aren’t worrying about Lizotte clearing waivers, they will just have to risk it and will swallow it if needed.

Lizotte and Grundy would get claimed IMO but the rest will pass through, both may be worth a pick. Wagner and Frk have no value on the market from what I have seen. Dunno, it’s complicated and you are right it’s a great problem to have.

Wish we'd see this lineup, but doubt it happens with Todd behind the bench.

I'm all for Kaliyev being on the top line and getting prime minutes. I'm banking on him being the first player one day to score 40 for us since Luc in 94.

It's almost been 30 years since we had someone pot 40. That's pretty crazy and hopefully King Arthur changes that.

Lemieux is a lock there is no one like him in the entire system except Doty who is on an AHL deal especially with MacD and Imama gone.

One of Lizotte, Grund or Wagner will end up on waivers.

I don't see Brown as a 1st line player any more. Ideally, he's a 3rd liner with PP time. Not a knock on Brown, love the guy, but there's just more skill available on the roster to bump him down a line or two.

Thinking the lines will be fluid for the first couple months of the season, until some chemistry forms. Hopefully the roster stays healthy and we'll be seeing them play in the post-season.

Expecting a few to be waived and most likely picked up.
