I mean, if you can get Eichel by sending back Gabe f***ing Vilardi as the centerpiece, yeah, I do that. But I highly, highly doubt Vilardi has anything close to that much value around the league.

It wouldn't surprise me if Buffalo is just straight up asking for Byfield+ as a starting point. Turcotte++ at the bare minimum. And for good reason.

Del Taco was started around Barstow. We have 3 of them. It's by far the most popular fast food chain among the locals.

But whenever I try Del Taco outside of Barstow it's usually crap. The Del Tacos here a different for some reason.

It was started in Yermo in the late '60s (67 I think?). The original Del Taco building is still there but now it's called The Burger Den.

The founder eventually moved to Barstow where you can currently find Del Taco #1 (the franchises are all numbered).

If memory serves, the original founder retained control of the first three franchises (all in Barstow) when the company expanded and started opening franchises all over the place. They are still called "Del Taco" but I believe they operate outside of corporate policy for the rest of the company.

All of this is based on memories of conversations from a very long time ago so I could be wrong... but when has being wrong about how large companies operate behind closed doors stopped anybody on this board?

Yes, Yermo is right outside Barstow.

Julie Hackbarth still manages one of the Del Taco's here to this day (she's also the former mayor of Barstow). I believe she's the daughter of Ed Hackbarth who was one of the founders of the company. So it's probably true that the ownership of the Del Taco's here is different, which is why the quality is also different.

As crazy as it sounds... I make a point of stopping in Yermo anytime I happen to be driving by.

I covered it briefly in a follow up post but I believe our prospect pool is absolutely FLUSH with middle six forwards, middle pairing dmen. I think unless they really, really hit, you can get away with trading as many of Kupari, Madden, Clague, Thomas etc. as possible.

I think the high end untouchables are Byfield, Turcotte (I know some disagree), Kaliyev, Vilardi, and I'm borderline on Faber at this point (makes me think of Ryan McDonagh). Maybe 'untouchable' isn't the right word, but to get an asset like Eichel or any other elite player that would be an 'upgrade' on those guys, the cost would be multiples--leaving us pretty much right where we have been for years, STACKED with depth, thin on high-end.

Like, you can't play all of those prospects at once--Kupari, Madden, Thomas, Fagemo, Kaliyev, Vilardi, Turcotte, Byfield, etc--something's gotta give, there's only so many roster spots. But you don't give away three top sixers for one top sixer at this stage. That's solving a problem by creating another one. Like yes it's trading mystery boxes for a 'sure thing' but that 'sure thing' comes with an assload of question marks too.
What if you give up one of Turcotte or Vilardi and replace that guy with Eichel? That is a net positive in the young center department. I'm just not sure what else goes out. I'm only okay giving one of those guys in a package.

If it takes more than 1 of those as the centerpiece than I'm not okay.

Would Vilardi, 8oa, Kupari and Bjornfort make me cry? For about 5 mins and then I'd start buying a jersey.

Throw in Maata for salary and it’s a deal...
Still think Gabe will be 70-80 point player but this is Jack Eichel

I think Gabe will settle into a 55-60 point player and that is a hell of a guy to have on your roster. But yeah, this is Eichel. There are only two handfuls of dudes out there that adds the dynamic that he does. That's assuming he's healthy.

The Kings seem the best fit in terms of cap space and tradeable assets. They’re also reportedly seeking two top-six forwards this summer. In my recent conversation with John Hoven of Mayor’s Manor, however, he said it’s believed they’re seeking established scorers around 27-years-old with two or three years remaining on their contracts. In other words, they want transitional players to buy more development time for their promising youngsters.

Bolts will be moving out some $$ and Killorn should be one of those (4.5 x 3 ) but he's turning 32 in a couple months, not sure if that would affect a decision, But there are teams that might have forwards to trade depending on their expansion draft list.

I wonder if any UFA would sign an inflated 2-3 year deal. We saw a lot of short term last time and probably will again. I’d be fine if this is the route they want to go.

Toronto is another team that will have players to move or lose, given the draft and other issues. Hyman , by reports, is not coming to term with them on a new deal and looks to be signing elsewhere. Kerfoot is another guy that might be an odd man out.

Given the state of the CAP being frozen for a few years, I think that will be an option for some UFA's , which might benefit the Kings.

Not sure some of the older guys who haven’t won will. I could see someone like RNH taking a shorter, high avg deal and bet on himself getting another big salary at 31 or 32.

Ownership has to want to spend money. If the Kings offer real cash, guys will sign here. Culture, blah, blah, but they're all in it for the money.

Saad and Schwartz, 2yr/$16m each. If they don't take it, they don't take it, who cares. If they take it, it keeps Doughty quiet, and you keep developing the prospects.

If they plan on Byfield as the #2 center next season then either of those guys would be good choices on his wing.

With the 12th pick in the 2022 NHL draft the LA Kings select …. (Insert yet another secondary piece)

Taylor must have left a hell of an impression on young Luc and Blake.

Can’t wait for the return of “can they go 7-2-1 in the final 10 to sneak into the wild card spot” posts the next two years, a throwback to a wonderful era.

Please help us Phil Anschutz. You’re our only hope.

Lots of those just hanging around hahaha. I just looked at the the Top 80 or so scorers from last season and there isn't much availability there. Ones that are possibly rumored to be available are already RFA or have one year left on the deal.

That's most teams. DL got Richards and the Kings were still that team.

We get caught up in the contender stuff, but most teams are just trying to get by. Hit really big on a pick or trade, and all of a sudden you're a contender.

There are only 3, maybe 4 real contenders at any given time. It'll take a lot for the Kings to get there again, and even lesser players than Doughty want to play in even semi-meaningful games.
