I think a Barclay Goodrow type would be a great bottom 6 addition that would bring some energy, experience, grit and PK ability to the lineup.

Love Zach Hyman and the way he plays but he's looking for term plus $5m plus. Some team will regret that contract after a few years. The way he plays the game those types just dont last. Very good complimentary player, in a non salary cap world a fantastic signing.

At his age especially, luckily I don't think they (being the Kings) are looking for long-term deals, I think they are more likely to play in the market of guys who get squeezed by the flat cap.

Doubt it. So far what I've seen in the Vegas series he's been on the ice for a lot goals against

AMart tied for 2nd with the Knights with plus 26 during the season. Pretty impressive. For the playoffs, he is an even 0 and he leads the team with 2 power play goals (not counted in the +-). Jazz hands indeed! He's welcome back. Don't think he comes back through, as he loves winning.

Amart has been on dry island before, where offensives dries up. He sure isn't going to come back.

He is also getting a lot of time in the PK I believe, and trying to shut down that #1 Avalanche line is a huge challenge.
Maybe if he wins the cup in Vegas he wants to move back to beach life in South Bay.
I don't think Vegas can afford to re-sign him. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

If the Avs lose to Knights they might look to add a guy like Marty, guy is a solid playoff performer

I know it's a little outside the discussion but man it took some balls to trade JJ and just plug Voynov in with full confidence even if he was tearing up the A.

Can't think of another similar scenario.

Ok tangent
Matt Duchene
Preds might not be able to protect him in the draft
I know he is 30 and has a bunch of years left at 8 mil. and only scored 6 goals. Where was I going?
Is there some deal the Kings could make with some team that can’t protect a player? Give up a little so the other team gets something before Seattle takes him. Not Duchene but some middle six guy or second pair defenseman.

Speculation on NHL radio that the Blues Jaden Schwartz wants to play in LA next year.
He's a UFA coming off 21 points in 40 games and zero points in 4 playoff games.
Carried a $5.3M cap hit last year.

Can't see much reason for LA to sign that deal.

If wants to come to LA then that means his main goal isn't winning.

He's already won his cup. He'd fit right in.

Jaden Schwartz will be 29 on June 25th.I would think Blake is looking for players around 26 and younger to bridge the build..

Anybody else thing Alec Martinez comes back to the Kings next year. I think he would be a great asset to help further develop the Kings young D core.

Why are the Kings bringing anyone back? It's like Calgary hiring Sutter again after they fired him.

Why assume full confidence? That's what desperation can do for you though. It could've blown up in DL's face, just as the Richards deal was in the process of doing at the time.

They need depth. Real depth.

If you don't get here against your will, don't bother coming.

I’m expecting moves but I think it’ll be something more akin to the Greene/Stoll moves. I think probably at a higher skill level (top 4 LHD and top 6 winger) but also, almost more importantly, players that will help establish the new culture for the team going forward. Players that will galvanise the room like Greene and Stoll both did.

So I’m almost certain that we stay the course and that the moves we make are part of the long term plan going forward. The character red flags with Eichel and Laine mean I think it’s highly unlikely we take either of those players. There has been a huge focus on drafting character which is something we’ve complained about all season, so I can’t see any risks being taken with such players until a new rock solid culture is in place. You can maybe take the chance on a risky character when you have a strong room, but not now. Laine’s QO, contract situation and recent form make him a bad move for a whole bunch of additional reasons.

If we trade for either Eichel or Laine I’d say it would means Blake and Robitaille have been told their job are at stake if we don’t make the playoffs and they’ve panicked. There are zero indications that is the case.

Trade proposal:

To Kings:
JT Miller $5.25M till 2023
Loui Eriksson $6M till 2022 ($3M buyout)
9th overall pick 2021 (VAN)
2023 1st round pick (VAN -lottery protected)

To Canucks:
Sean Walker $2.65M till 2024
8th overall pick 2021 (LAK)

Kings buyout Eriksson.

Despite $6M cap hit, Loui Eriksson’s actual salary is $4M ($1M signing bonus) in 2021-22. Vancouver gets hit for $2M recapture on buyout. Kings get cap hit for $2M in 2021-22 and $1M in 2022-23 with buyout.

Canucks get $6.35M immediate cap relief.

Vancouver needs cap space to sign UFAs (Quinn Hughes & Elias Pettersson) this year.

Kings get top 6 200-foot forward in JT Miller to play alongside Kopitar. Kings get 2023 1st round draft pick (lottery protected) for buying out Eriksson.

Kings swap spots in the 2021 draft and pick #9 instead of #8.

He is a pretty consistent 20 goal guy over his career though. I think it would make a lot of sense depending on the contract. term being big for me.

He'll be 29 before the season starts. Not sure I'm confident that this guy who hasn't scored at a 20-goal pace in 2 of 3 years is a lock to get back there.

I like the idea in theory. The Kings using their cap space to add additional assets is something I'd like to see.

This deal simultaneously appeases the people who want to improve the roster now by adding Miller, but also appeases people like me who want to keep tanking by acquiring and extra 1st from Vancouver.

But I don't think Vancouver is that desperate for cap space. They have 15M in room, and the only big contract they need to sign is Hughes. I think they'll be okay.
