have you listened to him calling the playoffs?
He does what you mentioned during the Kings games, but I have no caught him doing it on the national broadcasts?

I thought he did pretty well last night, but there was a Vegas game he did with Dominic Moore earlier on that was a rough listen. Moore is talking cliche, just nothing at all to say. I think he was moved to the studio after that.

Yeah I think I'm in agreement with everyone else in that I think he calls a good game, but the jocularity between Faust and Fox feels forced and it sometimes falls flat. I don't think it is forced, but it feels like it is and maybe it could just be the age difference between the 2. I'm sure they get along great off camera/ off mic so that's probably why they bring that to the broadcast, but sometimes I think it takes away from the game. Now it could be their producers that want more of that, but I have no way of knowing that.
Jocularity!?!

I think it's just weird that Faust isn't a kings fan when Jim massively is. I think Faust can be pretty boring and his inexperience due to his age is kinda prevalent.

I want the commentator to be a Kings fan so the excitement can be genuine and not so forced.

Isn’t that basically the Goldilocks announcer? Like what are the odds a top announcer is a hockey fan, let alone a Kings fan?

It doesn’t exist. Bob Miller started off doing Wisconsin College hockey IIRC. He became a Kings fan by doing the job for 40 years.

Let’s be honest, if this place were around for Bob’s first few seasons most people here would have roasted his balls along with a piece of chocolate between two graham crackers over a camp fire.

I don't like sugarcoating, just call it as it is. I was listening to the Flyers radio crew (they do a great job, two of the best) last month and the Flyers were really stinking it up and Steve Coates gets all annoyed and says "What the hell are they doing here, what is going on here?" The Kings needed that real talk this year. Not "Well Jim if the Blues resign from the NHL the Kings are still mathematically in the pLaYoFf RaCe!" during the last week. Faust is very good on these national games.

Fox is used to Bob all those years and Bob was one of a kind and will be forever missed doing Kings games.Foxy and Faust are different ages and styles.Neither of theses two bother me as much as Patrick O'Neal.

Faust has a pretty decent announcer voice, IMO. He doesn't call the games like it's pro-wresting...like the TB crew (so that's a bonus). My problem is the guy exudes 'cheeseball'...it's forced. Bob was just Bob, there was a very natural characteristic to his delivery and tone.

I f***ing loathe when Faust throws out hockey statements or facts as if he's been watching hockey for 50 years....and again, that's how he delivers it....but you know the guy has only been in the game for like 3 years, so he doesn't really know or has experienced shit. Not...A.....Fan.

jack edwards would be amazing as a play by play.

If anything the last 25 or so posts just illustrate what an impossible job Faust has in trying to please everyone.
i'm a broken record on it but i think he'd be fine if he just stayed on topic and called the game. maybe some of that's on foxy but i get tired of the "two bros talkin hockey" crap when most broadcasts are less of a conversation and more of a play-by-play alternating with analysis presentation

Boston TV crew is a comedy act, Marchand could pull a gun out and shoot someone behind the net and Jack Edwards would say they flopped. He also has an incredibly grating voice and delivery. I can't think of a worse broadcast. Tampa is up there too, absolutely HORRIBLE.

Boston radio crew is excellent. Montreal, Philly, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, Winnipeg, Nashville, Vegas, Washington, Islanders, and Devils all have great radio crews.
