Technically Thomas didn’t say he wasn’t present - though he did say he was not involved in the alleged incident and didn’t witness it.
Fair enough. I suppose he could have been asleep in or passed out in the room where it happened. But this is still much stronger statement than some of the others.

Get yourself a wife and never ever be alone with another woman again. Always take your wife for your own safety.
I am married. What do I tell my 9 year old son. It is scary. False allegations can destroy you.

What is scary is that a bunch of entitled hockey players thought this was okay. That since she wanted to have sex with one of them the rest could just jump in and f*** her too. Is an incident like this something you would want your son to partake in? That he join 6 friends in passing around a drunk woman so they can have sex with her? I can't imagine that it is.

I'd say you should tell your 9 year old son that he should respect women. That he should value women. That it is never okay to get them drunk to have sex with them. That if he has to pressure a woman not to press charges for what he and his friends did then he has done something terribly wrong, regardless of whether he faces legal consequences.

Because that is what we are talking about here. I've seen nobody suggest that this didn't happen. HockeyCanada paid up so they think it happened. There are questions as to what can be proven and whether she gave consent, whether she was capable of giving consent, but even if you look at this in best possible light these guys behaved abysmally.

This was perfectly stated.

Wow. This is scary for everyone except the guy who MAY have done it.

In my opinion, the worst kinds of crimes are those of sexual in nature. Both rape and molestation are worse then even murder. But if you cant remember anything from the night, especially not who, than how the heck are you reporting it. It is not fair to the players who were not involved. Further, if you don't remember who and cant identify who, then how are we to even know it was one of the players for team Canada and not some random person hanging out at the same bar.

As a man, how do you even protect yourself again false claims . You have to video the entire act just to cover you on backside - which is also illegal. What do you tell your son?

There's one part of Hunter Thompson's "Hell's Angels" that informs my conscience to this day. He witnessed an Angels GB and was struck by how unsexy the whole thing was. But when it came to the victim's testimony there was a major conundrum: "The first one was love, the next two were for kicks, and after that it was rape?"

Monogamy solves a lot of problems.

So at the current time we're most likely looking at

Saad-RoR-Kyrou
Buch-Thomas-Tarasenko
Neighbors-Schenn-Barbie
Some combo of Frk/Leivo/Acciari/Brown/Walker/Toro

Leddy-Colt
Krug-Faulk
Scandella-Bortuzzo
Mikkola-Perunovich

Binnington
Griess

We definitely need Buch, Kyrou, and Thomas to either Replicate or build upon last season. And Neighbours needs to prove he belongs. We still have a solid set of 8 top 9 forwards. Our depth signings are pretty good all have eclipsed 10 goals at least once in the NHL.

Defense is still a question mark. But when Leddy and Krug were both in the lineup everything looked to gel really well. So let's hope it continues that way for the next four years. Scandella was playing good hockey before he got injured late last season as well.

Backup goaltending is a drop, but ignoring last season Griess is an above .910 SV% and below 3GAA goalie. And with how Detroit was pretty brutal to their goalies last season I'd be willing to take a flier on him for one season.

We've definitely taken a step back. But it's nowhere near as drastic as some or making it. Especially when you look around the NHL at other teams where only a few (CBJ, DRW, and Nashville) have really made moves to actually upgrade their team.

I think both Kyrou and Thomas are going to build upon last season. I also think Greiss will be perfectly capable as a 20-30 game guy.

There's a lot to like about our current roster. I think we have a pretty solid shot, and deficiencies can be addressed at the TDL, much like last year.

Remember, we won just as many games against the Avs last year in the playoffs as anyone, and that was without our starting goalie and one of our top Dmen for much of the series. They are also likely losing Kadri, as well as other depth players that helped them tremendously. Oh and their goalie is a total unknown now too.

No, he's known, a known goof.

Nah just got back from Florida and looks like Tkachuk is on his way there.

Well … is about how I feel about the offseason
Blues were never going to be able to beat that offer. Much rather have Kyrou/RoR/Tarasenko+Parayko/Faulk+Neighbors/Bolduc/Snuggles+1st

Not going to argue any of that but the offseason sucks
We've taken a hit, but there are a lot of teams that took much worse than us. Avs downgraded from Sketchy Kuemper to Super Sketchy Georgiev and lost Kadri. Tampa gave McDonagh away for nothing, Vegas have away Patches and a defenseman away for nothing. Avs those are just some examples.

Yeah it has pretty much sucked hasn't it?

I mean even if you just expected a Leddy signing anyway we stil saw DP57 go bye bye and that hurt. Picks 19-25 in the draft went about as shit as it could have for my personal draft board. We ended up with a kid who's already been nicknamed 'Snuggles', which in of itself is pretty awesome I must say but still a rough night for me.

Now this whole Tkachuk thing? Nope, I'm fantastic with how that played out. The big thing that needed to go right went right as far as I'm concerned.

But overall I get the 'this sucks' sentiment.

Here's a few things I'm personally excited about.

The first is Noel Acciari, I think this will end up a very impactful signing beyond what his salary would suggest. Everything I've read about this guy is former teammates and coaches raving about how much they respect him and his hard working nature. This is the guy I want Neighbours stapled to. Not only is Acciari a stylistic mentor for Neighbours he's also the kind of tireless worker who leads by example and I think this is going to be a great vet to put Neighbours with.

The second is the very real possibility that Zach Bolduc makes the team past a 9 game trial. This is a longer shot obviously but one that shouldn't be dismissed off hand. I know it was recently stated by Tim Taylor that the Blues see him as a potential center but right now he looks very close to being an option at either RW or LW. This kid can wire a one timer on the rush on his off wing(RW) right now. Very dangerous shooting ability and surprisingly hard on pucks. If you caught any of that scrimmage on YouTube you can see he competes hard and has a very precise, active stick he uses to strip puck carriers. If he's not ready he's certainly close and he's already almost 6'2 and around 185 lbs by the time main camp starts. I could see him potentially seizing an opportunity to play with Barbashev and Schenn on the 3rd line and that possibility is really, really exciting to me.

Thirdly, and probably what I'm most interested in seeing, is how this top 4 D of Krug - Faulk and Leddy - Parayko work out. I still have strong opinions on how this D is contructed that don't leave me feeling confident BUT it's definitely better than what we started last year with.

Total side note but this sucks so I'm putting it out there. German shepherds shed, like a lot. Like I had to come up with a hair measurement system on the fly to accurately convey to others just how much hair I'm talking about here. So I came up with using the measurement 'cats'. Like a German shepherd is roughly equivalent to 12 cats of hair. It's like the Richter Scale but for Fur-quakes.

I’m overall pleased with how the off-season has gone, so far.

We lost Perron. Sucks, but so what?
We gained a better 4th line.
We have even better NHL/AHL depth.
The draft was, imo, a fairly huge success.
RT is extended.
The LD is solidified by committee, but is not terrible.
We’ve already heard DA or maybe Chief describe a refocus on team defense.
Goaltending is a wash, imo.
We have prospects being injected as soon as this season with Jake, Bolduc in 23-24, Snuggles the following season and then start flavoring the roster with one or two of our D youngins and we are in great shape.

Oh…..and Tkachuk is better off far away from the Blues’ locker room.

Edit: TK421 and I posted pretty much the same thing. Funny.

I view extending Leddy by 4-years doesn't sound that good. Play him as top4 minutes is mindboggling. You cant just assume if Gunnar or Jbo played top4 minutes with Pietro its same we go with Leddy or Scandella with Parayko / Faulk.

Our defense still sucks and its main reason why we cant found success. If we want to pass Avs, our defense should be same or even better vs. 2019 Cup d-core.

Biggest worried is that we have lost quite good players for nothing and have replace those holes weakly or don't have replace those holes at all. You cant bleed away your best players and don't get any return.

I don’t care about Gunnarsson or Bouwmeester or Pietrangelo or any other player who is not on the team.
