I really think you are going way overboard on this
Perron just made 10,000,000 dollars over the next two years, he is not hurting
St Louis fans will love him no matter what

DA, agree with him or not on any specific move, is going to try and do his best for the Blues franchise, and has to view it from the lens of the next season, plus seasons beyond and sentimentalism is fine, but only if it doesn't have a negative impact on the team now and in the future
That fine.

Robots for DA. I'm with the humans.

I have no interest in adding Kyrou to a MT deal. I’d rather sign Kyrou to 8 yrs x 7 mill and ROR to 3 yrs x 6 mill. There won’t be any room for MT after signing Thomas, Kyrou and ROR unfortunately. If we can’t strike a deal with ROR, then that changes. Also, We better hope Neighbors and Bolduc are legit top 6 players.

There is a difference. Backes played a style that doesn't age well at all and wanted 5 years @ $6M per year. Perron wanted 2 years @ $4.75M, and plays a style that will age better. Pietrangelo wanted cap breaking money and 7-8 years. Big differences.

It's not a loyalty issue, its a roster construction issue. Perron at $4.75 for 2 years is tremendous cap value. He is a goal scorer and near point per game. I don't think he'll regress much due to his style. That is extremely valuable on a team that needs to rely on depth due to lack of game breaking talent.

That may be tremendous cap value but that doesn't necessarily mean this team can afford it.

Top six looks solid. Third line of Barbashev-Schenn-Neighbours. Then build a fourth line and some depth.

Might have just built a fourth line. Leivo-Acciari-Agnello.

Excellent size, some offensive production.

Anyone else starting to read something into the fact that Mikkola still hasn't signed? I get that Kostin is a KHL risk and Todd is just an AHL guy, but the team has brought in a lot of AHL/NHL tweeners in the last couple of days and I'm beginning to wonder if maybe they're either looking at a longer term deal with him and that's why it is taking longer or if he's being held back because they anticipate him being part of a trade package.

Not really. He's one where the negotiation could be a bit tougher. Army can point at times when he struggled and argue his deal should be 1M or less, and Mikkola can point towards times in the season where he was pretty good on the 2nd/Parayko pair. The difference between 1M and 1.5M can seem small, but when close to the cap it's significant.

I am a bit on both Mikkola and Kostin. They might not like their chances at playing time with who is in front of them. Its probably less about money and more about promises they won't go to the AHL. I doubt we are going long term on Mikkola. He had a short leash this year. His ice time would plummet after bad plays and Leddy hurt his ice time. With Perunovich possibly pushing for time, he has to be worried about being the odd man out.

If we don't sign Mikkola we absolutely need some organizational depth at D. I don't trust Perunovich father than I could throw Mikkola. That leaves us with Rosen and then Santini/prospects. I certainly don't want to see Santini again if we can help it.

Maybe a little but not really. Mikkola is arbitration eligible so he has additional leverage. As others have said, he probably wants a little more than Army wants to give and likely also wants to make sure he’ll be in the NHL and not AHL.

There still has to be a depth RHD signing coming as injury insurance and because Borts doesn't play full time.

Perunovich has played on the right side, and I think that he will be in and out of the line up with Mikkola.
