I'm not sure we could do Tkachuk or Laine long-term along with Kyrou and ROR. Since Tkachuk is RFA, we are free to talk to him, if we could get him on board with something at 9 or less, I'd put pressure on Calgary by offering Kyrou. Kyrou is going to get near Thomas, so 1M or so more and get Tkachuk. Kyrou might be better than anything else they get offered.

We'd have to create room for this season by moving cap out, but ROR/Buchnevich and Thomas/Tkachuk would be a strong top 6 set of pairs.

Did anyone see this or have a source for it? Apparently a bunch are saying he said it on ESPN+.

Honestly i would trade or buy out Scandella if need be. It appear that Vladi wont be traded (so he will probably walk after this year). Let not resign ROR. Sign MT when he becomes a UFA and we wont have to give up assets. Resign Kyrou !

Next year have a top 2 line of MT, Thomas, Kryou and Saad ,Schenn , Buch
3rd line Bolduc Neighbors, ?

I have seen it reported all over social media but haven't seen the actual clip. I mean Weekes has his sources but I agree with the poster on twitter on how and why. Neither team has much cap space and they still have players to re-sign so I don't know how it could happen. Maybe a 1 for 1 for Hampus Lindholm. :naughty:

Lindholm for Krug straight up. Perunovich proved he can play a Krug style role. Bruins get back a team favorite. Blues get a top pairing LD. Just spitballing.
We'd probably have to eat a contract. Grzelcyk is someone we were going to acquire in that Schenn deal that didn't happen in 18/19, so maybe we swap small dmen, we save some cap, and he has less term. Maybe that opens up enough space for Army to do the rest of his business.

That would heavily depend on step 2 because I don't like Krug for Gryzelcyk at all.

Of course, but the whole point would be to just get out of the contract to accomplish whatever step 2 is. Whether that's a more ideal top 4 LD or space for Tkachuk or someone else. If we are able to move Krug, while I think he's still good value with his contract, I'm expecting an extreme minimum in return.

I still say we are trading Vladi before the season starts but i've been wrong before. I hope DA isn't going after Kadri. I can't stand that guy

Honestly, the media would love the Blues being filled with former Hawks (Saad/Leddy), team we beat for Cup (Krug/Acciari), and enemy #1 (Kadri). No way in hell does Kadri sign here though.

Blues twitter goes from fire Army to build another statue .
Sounds about like what happened in Columbus today. "Omfg wtf are you doing!" (Signs Johnny Hockey) "omfg we love you omg omg"

I had all of ESPN+ coverage on today the whole 2 hours. I do not remember hearing anything about it. I was also looking up stuff online and typing forum posts, so maybe I missed it. I do think if there was an extended segment about the Blues, I would have perked up. But it could have been dropped in passing.

(posted this in the Perron thread too)

Strickland reported on 590 today that prior to this past season, Perron was offered a one year extension at four million (extending his the current contract by one year) and he declined.

Apparently, the Blues have been/were looking at one year with him for awhile.

I'm going back through it since I only had time to keep up on HF, so I'll post my thoughts on it once I come across it.

Army knew once the Thomas/Kyrou deals kicked in, it was going to be a squeeze. Either multi years with a lower AAV than 4 like was reportedly offered, or a 1 year at same number.

So, it's starting around the 16 minute mark on the ESPN coverage when the Leddy deal was announced on their show. Bucci starts by saying what does this do about Krug and if we are looking to move him. Weekes' reaction was a definitive nod that we are, Bucci didn't really notice that, and then did a segway into Boston, and that's when Weekes commented that Krug could end up in Boston.

So, I'm not sure what to really make of it. Was Weekes agreeing with the speculation by Bucci or is Weekes confirming that there was something actually there. I'm not taking it as complete confirmation that we are moving Krug, but it's more smoke.

If we move Scandella, it's to get a whelming middle-six forward. Despite Perron's loss, we still have a TON of offensive firepower on the roster. Getting a cheap, defense-first RW makes for a bonkers Saad-ROR-?? shutdown line.

If we somehow move Krug, we're shooting for the fences.

I wasn’t able to read the entire Athletic paywall story, but JR is now reporting that prior to this past season, Perron was offered a TWO year extension at four million per year (extending his the current contract by two years) and he declined.

This is so bizarre. Both 4M and 4.75M are bargain basement prices for this player who is clearly about a 6.5M-7M contributor vis a vis the roster. In what world do Schenn and Krug and Parayko and Faulk dwarf what Perron contributes?

That spitball has lots of green phlegm all over, but the Bruins are on the way down, so I'm going to fantasize about this a little longer and then move on.

Not sure if your question is serious or not, or simply rhetorical, but maybe Perron wanted to go elsewhere. It's kind of a headscratcher, for sure, cuz that is the discount I was expecting all along.

Regarding Krug being traded to Boston, the big question is if he really would waive his NTC to go back there. Sure he's got familiarity with their organization, but I feel like he does want to be a competitive team and they are at least going to be in a retool mode the next few seasons.
