Finland loss to Switzerland, and Canada is up 7-2 against Czech. So the quarterfinals look to be:

1A Sweden (Fagemo, Bjornfot) vs. 4B Czech Republic (Parik - injured)
2B USA (Turcotte, Kaliyev) vs. 3A Finland (Nousiainen, Kupari - injured)
------------
1B Canada (Dudas, Thomas) vs. 4A Slovakia
2A Switzerland vs. 3B Russia

While no match should be considered simple, Sweden is up against a heavily injured and beaten up Czech team. Their starter may still return, but at the moment Czech's 3rd string goalie is playing. They also lost two of their top forwards in the tourney.

Slovakia has played rather poorly as well, with their only win coming against Kazakhstan.

Switzerland beating Finland is a bit of an upset, but Russia seems to be the favorite there.

USA and Finland is a rematch to look out for. Kupari's injured, but Team USA has been rather hot and cold.

USA/Finland game is going to be close in my opinion. No give me's. Finland is going to come out determined after the lost to Switzerland.

Damn Finland losing to Switzerland forcing them in an early round match against the Americans. That's rough

Gonna have to climb over Finland and Sweden for a shot at gold. I kinda like it. Put up or shut up for team USA which has been inconsistent.

I had a feeling the U.S. was going to lose. Fins have their number.

Doesn't help when the coach is handcuffing the team from the start with his line combinations and ice time distribution.

Too much time to grinders and scrubs on lines that should be scoring lines. The Robertson-Pinto-Wahlstrom line just does not pass the eye test, either. I know they've put up some points, but they just look so impotent out there.

Absolutely spot on. I seriously don't understand how these three were anointed the top line. Wahlstrom is a joke.

So, US gets a PP to end the game and the coach keeps their best goal scorer (ArtyParty) on the bench? Must have been saving him for the OT. SMH.

The power play unit to end the game was emblematic of the coaching problems (right after there was a shot of leading goal scorer Arthur Kaliyev standing on the bench right at the end of the timeout). Caufield has been pretty pathetic all tournament yet he was out there. And of course Robertson-Pinto-Wahlstrom were out there and were completely ineffective...again.

A very good team knocked out in the quarter finals. The elbowing and trying to start a fight in the final seconds just adds to the embarrassment.

Neither Turcotte nor Kaliev got to play the final minute with the man advantage and a pulled goalie. It certainly says something. I think it's fair to say Turcotte has been disappointing and Kaliev, despite being a great triggerman, has a lot of work to do on his play away from the puck.

He also led the team in goals and barely got an opportunity when the team needed a goal the most. Inexcusable, regardless of whether he has deficiencies away from the puck.
