It was pretty well known heading into the 2019 draft that Zegras was probably the best playmaker and the most creative player ranked in the top 10, and he's showing those skills off throughout this tournament, no matter his linemates and ice time.

I just wished Detroit or Buffalo took Zegras and he didn't fall to the Ducks.

Filthy pass by Zegras, Arty got an assist as well.

They didn't say anything about Arty's pass...which was behind the back and right on Zegras' stick...Zegras does not make that filthy pass and there's no goal,
without the excellent awareness / pass to Zegras, from Arthur. Should be a poll on the main board - who are the top 3 steals of the 2019 draft?
Zegras at 9, Kaliyev at 32 and Fagemo at #50....at least all would get votes! Such an astute deal, Kings moving up to 50 to get Fagemo.
I recall Yannetti saying post draft "if we didn't move up to get Fagemo at 50, he would have been gone before our pick"

I get it. I'm not saying he has played poorly but he has not played up to expectations. 5thOA picks are expected to produce and not just backcheck well.

It's a short tourney so of course there are over reactions but I'm not overreacting by saying he isn't playing up to what is expected of him.

Kaliyev is confirming what we all think about him: kid is a natural scorer and basically scores wherever and whenever he is playing. Turcotte is projected as a high-scoring, 200 foot player. We are only seeing the latter so far.

It's not like I'm writing him off, just saying that he's been underwhelming.

I agree it is nice to see prospects do well, but just echoing what others have said that this is only 4 games in 1 tournament. Turcotte is currently tied for the 7th most points in the NCAA for freshman (15 points in 16 games). His total body of work this year shows he is capable of developing into a high-scoring player and this tournament is specifically highlighting his ability to play a 200 foot game.

2019 King draft will be what helps establish this team as a perennial top 8 western conference team for more than a decade...Turcotte, Bjornfot, Kaliyev, Fagemo. You will see posts on the main board "you guys got Fagemo in that draft too? shtt" Even Nousianen may be 'Lubomir Visnovsky light'

Keep bitching he doesn’t do enough, Turcotte is a 2 way monster at 18 , great years ahead until we trade him to someone else and he is the missing piece and they win multiple cups with him , shades of #19

Seriously. He excels in all areas and has a pro attitude. Exceptional character and work ethic. Coach Granato says Alex is too hard on himself. Give me drive, determination and a work ethic
like that, over a player with a smidgen more ability....but how many of his peers truly have more ability? Hughes maybe? Kakko? Dach? Zegras? Hard to say. Let's discuss this in 2 years.
None of those other players play a more complete game.

I'm already excited for the post-Anze-Kopitar future where we ***** at Alex Turcotte for 'only' putting up 70 points while doing all the dirty work so the Vilardi-Kaliyev connection can go really HAM

Kinda crazy to think about the Kings 2019 draft:

Turcotte
Bjornfot
Kaliyev
Fagemo
Parik
Nousiainen

all made their 2020 WJC rosters

Only Thomas, Dudas, and Kupari were from 2018.

Genuine question as I’m not watching all the games. How is he being used? Is he playing with guys that will get the most out of his offensive ability and/or is he being used in a shutdown role.

I never worry about these tournaments as a gauge for future NHL performance, it just isn’t reliable. Certainly not points totals. If he’s competing and playing well, I’m not too bothered about point totals. It’s more important that Arty scores as that’s the sole point of him being there.

Exactly as I mentioned before how many have scored a ton of points and have been a complete no show in the NHL. Looking at you Mr. Puljujarvi, Middelstadt etc. Amazing how people already know these kids future with these tournaments. Lol.

I havnt really been able to catch Finlad/sweeden group games
How have fagemo and bjornfoot looked? Loved both picks(and kaliyev) Really wanted all 3 of them to end up with Anaheim … What are your realistic expectations of fagemo? That whole draft class for you guys looks Steller... and I imagine you guys are going to have another big year at the draft this year.

Obviously seen a lot of Kaliyev/Turcotte… and hes just a natural goal scorer, was very smart pick to grab him while he was available, any flaws he supposedly has can be cleaned up by the time he starts playin in the NHL. Turcotte while a bit quiet so far, but I expect hes going to be a big part of usa game if they want a chance at gold.

And so I don't have to flood your boards, I havnt been able to catch any Reign games yet but vilardi looks to be doing pretty well after returning... if carter is moved do you think there is a chance he gets a call up? Or do you think hell benefit more from conditioning the whole year in the AHL?
