Let's cut the ****: you'd like to see more out of Turcotte.

Spare the excuses. This isn't as bad as the Hickey apologies in his WJC but we cant have Fagemo and Kaliyev being awesome because they score and Turcotte being awesome for playing defense.

He has not been as good as he should be. We all want more. Let's hope he turns it on.

He's not put up numbers relative to expectations. But he has played better away from the puck than Kaliyev. Fagemo's a year older and has been on the top line/powerplay.

Turcotte is largely lined up with players playing awful. Caufield has been a non factor. Beecher's very good, but he's a checking forward.

Wahlstrom and Caufield have been boat anchors for USA. Pinto's been solid on the top line, but Robertson could be producing more if higher skill shared the line with him.

Age is a huge thing at this tournament. Look at a player like Byfield and what his numbers are looking like. He is still a top pick in this draft. Plus it is early in the tourney.

Now 5 goals. He scored the first 2 for Sweden today. By the time I post this, he may have 6...who knows!
So the obvious next step is that we are likely to trade him for another two way player with hands of stone but with excellent physical board play but only will show it in the playoffs because that's when it matters.

Honestly, ALL of the prospects are ASSETS and not all can make it and some may have to be traded. Kind of like Toronto would not trade Sandin or Kapenen in the Muzzin deal, but were willing to
part with A- prospects like Grundstrom and Durzi. I still believe both will play for the Kings....and with all of these prospects, some may end up in packages with Toffoli / Carter / Lewis / Martinez
to get better returns. Or not. But eventually some may be dealt. No room for all of them...but only if the deal makes sense for the Kings. Crazy amount of prospects: Vilardi, Turcotte, Kaliyev, Kupari,
Fagemo, Thomas, Dudas, JAD, Grundstrom, Sodergran, Shafigullin, Anderson, Clague, Bjornfot, Moverare, Durzi, Hults, Strand, Nousiainen, Spence, Parik, Ingham. etc. How can even half play for the Kings?
I do not think Blake will deal any of the top ones, but the next tier ones may end up dealt...but only in deals that make sense or part of a package to get a misisng piece...kind of like the deals
that brought pieces like Justin Williams and Mike Richards here. The time for deals like those are 2 years out, probably. That's fine. It's asset management. And having Hextall here too,
is good. It's not like it's just Blake, to navigate the best course. I'm ok with Blake, but like having Hextall as part of the team. Maybe 2 years from now, the Kings are in a place to deal #1 2022, Thomas, JAD and Clague for a player like Taylor Hall. (a player like that) And not dealing Turcotte, Kaliyev, Fagemo, Vilardi, Bjornfot, Anderson in a package. Also know that the Kings will also have a top player from this June - Lafreniere , Byfield, Stutzle, Raymond, Holtz, Drysdale, Perfetti, Askarov ? They will probably have one of these too! Safe to say Kings will be picking somewhere between 1-8. if Kings are picking 4-8, and Askarov is BPA, go for it. A generational goalie does not come around every 5 years. Petersen will be like 27 in 2 years...

USA dominated and is trailing 2-1. USA hit post fanned on open nets. Pretty much everything. Goalie made a few great saves.
Turcotte and Arty have both looked good.

Chech scored on a seeing eye shot from the blue line and a 5 on 3.

I'd like to see what Turcotte is doing turn into numbers, but he was arguably our best player yesterday. This is reactionary.

Sheesh Zegras may lead the tournament in points with all asisist. My goodness. As a Kings fan hope he BUSTS. :sarcasm:

I get it. I'm not saying he has played poorly but he has not played up to expectations. 5thOA picks are expected to produce and not just backcheck well.

It's a short tourney so of course there are over reactions but I'm not overreacting by saying he isn't playing up to what is expected of him.

Kaliyev is confirming what we all think about him: kid is a natural scorer and basically scores wherever and whenever he is playing. Turcotte is projected as a high-scoring, 200 foot player. We are only seeing the latter so far.

It's not like I'm writing him off, just saying that he's been underwhelming.

It was pretty well known heading into the 2019 draft that Zegras was probably the best playmaker and the most creative player ranked in the top 10, and he's showing those skills off throughout this tournament, no matter his linemates and ice time.

Yup Turcotte only having one assist in the tournament is a bust. Wish we had Zegras damn wish we could have picked him instead. What the heck was Blake thinking. Wasted 5th overall. This will set us back for years. :DD
