Am I the only one who would want Stamkos? This guy is simply a great player. I'd take on that contract in a heartbeat and not think twice. He's 30, not 36!

He has the body of a fifty year old though, that's the problem. He's a great player that will be lucky to play out his contract and you can probably forget 75+ games a season from him.

He played all 82 just two years ago. He only scored 98 points. I guess we have no need for that kind of production.

I don't know man, thats a tough contract. He is 30 already, and that is 4 more seasons on a guy with injury issues. Also, it is pretty much buyout proof, so you don't have that contingency plan to buy out the last year or two if worse comes to worse.

Have read they asked Stamkos if he was open to being traded. He said no.

Put Coyle on waivers and see how many teams claim him....how many you think? five? ten?

If the bruins had just won the Stanley cup and had three RFAs to sign while pressed against the cap, no I don’t think teams would be claiming coyle so the bruins could sign better, younger core players to deals that would Improve a Stanley cup team.
Teams are forcing Tampa’s hand to either have them buyout players or use draft picks to get rid of players. No one is in a rush to make the Stanley cup champions better.

Let's say instead of the 8+ or whatever the cap number is, it's 5-6. Not all that unreasonable for either party at that point

Are you referring to retainage? That would be $2.5 to $3.5M. If TB was willing to retain that much, 30 teams would be in on it.

Heard Burke say recently how much he hates NMCs, claiming they give the player more power than the GM and owner. A funny way to look at it.
I heard the same thing. He said he told Kaberle to give him a list of teams that he would accept a trade to. Kaberle told him that he didn't have to accept a trade to which Burke replied I don't have to play you. Kaberle then gave him a list.

Burke has a book out. I love NHL on satellite radio. (I also wish Burke was our GM)

I don't know if this is the thread that Mitchell Miller was mentioned in but, good news!
Coyotes had no choice in cutting ties with Mitchell Miller, but it was still the right choice

Don't see Tampa moving on from Stamkos or Sergechev

They are not moving on from them by choice. No one I think can afford oft injured Stamkos and his 8.5 million cap hit for 4 more years. I do not see why his name is brought up with us with the top 3 being set.

Sergachev could get offer sheeted for more than they can match. If they add Cirelli and Johnson they are doomed. There Roster Size is: 18/23. They are losing one or a few. Why they choose Schenn and Maroon to sign before locking him up was dumb.

Tyler Johnson isn't worth 20 million over the next four years, even for free.

If Stamkos had been healthy the Johnson would of been on the 4th line with Maroon and Paquette. Which says a lot about TB's depth up front, but also a lot about Johnson and where his game is now.

tyler Johnson would have been 6th on the bruins in points per 60 minutes last season. Ahead of coyle, Bjork, kase. Debrusk averaged .1 points per 60 minutes more than Tyler Johnson last year.

It has much more to do with Tampa’s depth than where Tyler Johnson’s game is at. we are talking about a guy that was putting up 45-50 points per season each of the three years before the lockout.

correct. I think it’s pretty likely that TB would have to sweeten the deal either with high picks or retained salary.

Sergachev would answer so many things for this team for the next decade.

Imagine him and Mac together as our top pairing.

Be nice to really screw with Tampa too.

I think Tampa is going to definitely match any offer sheet accepted by Sergachev. He is their top priority RFA.
Instead Sweeney should put the hammer down on Tampa with an offer sheets to both Cirelli at $6,5M and Cernak at $4M. The picks compensation for Cirelli would be 1st and 3rd, for Cernak 2nd.
If Bruins would get both they will improve at both top6 and top4 D.
If Tampa matches one and let go the other one it weakens Tampa and improves Bruins.
If Tampa matches both they still have to get rid of other good players and also some of their prospects/draft picks. Their depth and prospect/draft pool would take a hit.
Bruins have nothing to lose with those 2 moves, either they get one or two impact players or they screw Tampa even more.

Should Bruins get Cirelli they can trade Krejci for a pick to a team with a playoffs ambitions (Columbus). Dubois & Krejci to center 1-2 line.
Should Bruins get Cernak they can choose if they want to keep him and Carlo (convert one to LD) or swap one for top 4 LD/top6 winger.

Carlo + DeBrusk + 1B prospect(Vaak) for Laine
Krejci for 2nd/conditinal 1st
2nd/conditional 1st + Bjork + Clifton for top 4 LD (maybe Keith if Hawks retain 1M???)
Lindholm, Wagner, Ritchie, Moore for any picks they can get

Laine Cirelli Pastrnak (top line only from the young guys)
Marchand Bergeron Studnicka (less heavy minutes for Bergy and Marchy)
Kase Coyle Smith (physical 3rd line)
McKegg Kuraly Senyshyn (7-8min)
Kuhlman

Keith McAvoy
Grzelcyk Cernak
Zboril Lauzon
Kampfer

I would stay far away from Keith, even if the Hawks retained money.
