Sitting here thinking, when was the last time the Bruins and Maple Leafs made a "hockey trade?"
Was it as far back as Kaberle?

up front we are stacked

we seen marchand/Bergeron/pastrank before and 2 of these guys contend for the league scoring title

we will see debrusk/coyle/smith... style wise debrusk gets his 2 best linemates

Bjork/krejci/kase… is better than most teams have on the 3rd line

Ritchie/kuraly/senshyn... if you dont have faith in these guys look at providence where we have federic/studnicka/kuhlman chomping at the bits

wagner makes Lindholm expendable as the 13th forward.

we are stacked up front...

on defense we need to hope for some development... but we have 4 mill cap room. theres plenty of money to upgrade at the deadline if the kids dont develop

grezlyck/McAvoy deserve a chance to prove themselves before we say they cant do it

moore/carlo… moore hasnt really gotten a chance to play top 4 since we got him... zboril will be around to put pressure on moore and take his job once he is ready

lauzon/miller... when healthy this gives us a really solid 3rd pair.. Clifton can step in if miller goes down... vaakanainen is also ready to start seeing some action

our d... has a couple guys that didnt perform last year due to injuries or other issues, but we got 8 guys here and a kid in providence... and we got 4 mill cap room... we will be fine

rask/halak... we called them the best goaltending duo in hockey last year... they are back now

best line in hockey... best goaltending in hockey... a top dman with Norris potential... three deep centers that can outplay most their opposition.... a new 20 goal winger adding depth to the team... lots to love

the big loss is krug… but we dodged a bullet on his nasty contract.

its sad the chara story is ending on a sour note... but father time ticks on all of us
Wagner and Lindholm can go as far as I'm concerned. I would much rather see Stud, T Fred and to a much lesser extent Seny up this year. No revenue in, I say use what you have on the shelf since no big huge "changes" seem to be incoming. Maybe the big huge "changes" though are Stud, T. Fred and C. Smith though.

I disagree with points here. I definitely wouldn't say stacked.

Krejci's line is the defacto 2nd line. And that's not the greatest 2nd line, we still need wingers, it's a bit weak in my opinion. Bjork and Kase very unproven. We all haven't been speaking of fixing Krejci's line for ages for nothing. Debrusk could also be swapped here, but personally agree, Debrusk and Coyle meshes better at times.

That Coyle line is a solid 3rd line or 2B if you will. Paired up against other 3rd lines, they should be successful.

Defense is full of unknowns are this point, so I won't speak on that at the moment.

Last major one definitely. I also don't know if that was a hockey trade as more of a rental trade.

Are you thinking of anyone on the Leaf's particularly that we should be pursuing?

Like others have said. The biggest issue is the defense. It is woefully weak on the left hand side. We can “add” UFA forwards all we want but it won’t mean much if the defense is porous

Just looked at dadonov that guy can put it top shelf 25 goals plus no problem I see. Sign him donny.
You've called for almost every player via trade or FA.

It's either a kiss of death that they aren't coming here or you are throwing darts at everything.

I wish I shared your optimism.

No because I don't see them wanting to help the Bruins and DS not having the wherewithal to do anything with them. Hell, he hardly (if even) has the inclination to do it with other teams.

I'm just hoping donny reads my post and signs a scorer. We badly need one. Hoffman and dadonov out there. No assets to be given. He has the cap space . Cant understand the game plan unless he is keying on these 2 and negotiating a cheaper contract

Which one exactly? I am always up for improving the roster but dealing a 24 year old while trying to building a contender and simultaneously retooling is a tough sell.

I would however be very open to moving him for a top end LD for a long term partner to McAvoy
Yes I’m all in for Schmidt. Kase in the deal or dealt for space

I like how the bruins just have question marks on unproven lines where people say new product A is/not an upgrade over new product B.

I called it from the start. Our big move was letting Krug walk (probably Chara as well) and signing a third line center/winger who can move up and down the lineup for a few games.

So what has changed in the past few years? Secondary scoring is still abysmal.
Softer defence core.
Half our fans dislike our goalie situation.
Our 2015 round picks have pooped the bed (Debrusk excluded since he's putting up fair numbers).
We don't have shiny prospects.

Sounds about right.

Another cold hard truth... many of the FA's don't see themselves as a good fit here.

First line forwards are already a lock.

Hall didn't look forward to being second line, and Krejci as a linemate isn't as attractive as Eichel

We'll see if this changes in the upcoming days/weeks, but any player coming in, sees Krejci, his output, and contract status and isn't attractive as a long term fit.

Short term, not sure if any other UFA's are looking at a short term solution similar to Hall... a one year deal might be the best option if anyone is willing to bite.

Our lack of shiny prospects, a mix of where we picked... and who we picked when we did. Most of the players we've selected have been a bit lower ceiling vs. some counterparts selected after them. (but this is a dead horse we're not supposed to talk about), but it's true.

the Bruins are weaker at this point and i not sure if this the FO or JJ. But just go with the young Defenseman and wingers.

Honestly, if this is the plan. Unless we are sitting in first place, I say we move all UFA's at deadline. Trial by fire for the youth, and try to recoup some prospects moving the UFA's.

let Arizona poor pocket owners deal with empty buildings for half a year... as that situation deteriorates let oliver Ekman Larsson truely evaluate does he want to be part of the car wreck

im not sure it happens by deadline time... but I think there will be rumors he is being dealt come round again.

will he still want only boston? will Arizona's asking price be easier to swallow? will we feel we need him and pony up an offer to get the job done?

just because we arent getting one of the guys at free agent time doesnt mean we wont have someone before playoffs

If the Bruins are going young, I hope Stud, Vaak9, and Zboril show good enough the Bruins are in a position to say no to trading them. Would be a good bit of redemption for the front office and scouts...

The Craig Smith contract is way better than the Toffolli one.

But -- damn -- the Atlantic is looking like a horse race this year. Better come ready on Day 1 because it's going to be a short season too.

Can't be that much worse, maybe even better than some of the guys they're paying more money to now. Time to see what we have and how they fare against NHL counterparts. At least now we'll know! If they're a big improvement/surprise DS will be (somewhat) forgiven for his 2015 selections.

It would be nice to see what Zboril,Vaak and Lauzon can do once given a real chance, but it would also be nice to have a true number One LD to go with them. I like Grizz but not as my number one and Chara is just pure situational at this stage and neither one of them has been signed yet.

You have McAvoy and Carlo on the right side and both Grizz and Lauzon has played there as well and of course there's Clifton and Moore, but this just doesn't look like a championship caliber defense, I can see a whole lot of Tuukka melt-downs

You're right but IMO they're not looking at getting the core another shot at the Cup as the top priority. Other teams in this position would be loading up. With the Bruins it's business as usual, just another day at the office. This is a big opportunity to make the team battle ready from now but of course it's about not losing too much money during the Covid season. I get that but other teams see the possibilities, this upcoming season is gonna shape up to be a sprint instead of the usual marathon season. Imagine if the NHL decides that all of the teams will make the playoffs, then there will be little to no chance of making big moves at the TDL.
