I won't write the kid off, tbh I never felt he had game breaking talent, obviously you would always like to see a top 5 pick go out there and dominate the year after the draft. So that you can hope he turns into a future superstar. But my feeling with Turcotte has always been that he will likely end up being a good two-way player, that can play a top 6 role and won't drive the line but won't slow it down either. Those guys are valuable.

Like i said earlier, better go around and tell Jack Hughes, Kappo Kakko, Kirby Dach, and Bowen Byram that the odds are against them too.

You were saying you want to see a top-5 pick go out there and dominate after the draft.

None of the top-5 picks around Turcotte did that.

I know you're saying you weren't super high on him before that season either, I'm just finding a lot of the narrative is that Turcotte didn't have a stellar draft +1 season so "i knew it" while the other 4 top-5 picks had major issues of their own but are getting a lot of rope around here.

so will the reveal be 3-2-1 or 1-2-3?

I am hoping for 1-2-3 so that we can be let down gently into realization that we pick 7, I dont think I could take finding out were not picking 1 and finding out were picking 7 at the exact same time

No, what I was saying is that it's always fun to hope you get the next SUPERSTAR when you make a high draft pick, even though that is incredibly unlikely. Turcotte didn't look like the next superstar in his NCAA season. That's fine, it was highly unlikely anyways.

The only thing people should be dissapointed about is that he doesn't appear to have the extremely high end talent that fans often hope for. But what's great about Turcotte is that he was drafted to be a fast, skilled, two-way player, he doesn't have to be a dominant scorer to have a lot of value to a team. People just need to be realistic with what the NHL draft is and what you are likely to get with these types of players. What we are likely to get is a two way top 6 player that can score about as much as the guy driving his line.
Which would be incredibly valuable... Imagine if Kopitar had a linemate that played a really solid two-way game and was within 5-10 points of him every year instead of guys that score 20 less points than him. That would be really helpful. Turcotte can be that type of guy.

Wheeler listed Sanderson first on his list of 10 NHL draft prospects your team should probably avoid based entirely on the fact that he'll likely be taken too high given his discussions with NHL scouts. It'll be interesting to see where he winds up; Wheeler has him 19th, but it sure sounds like he'll be gone in the top 10.

Finally, someone who doesn't think I'm crazy

I've found myself agreeing a lot more with Wheeler and a lot less with Pronman this year.

He also said last year that Bjornfot shouldn't go before 40th overall, but I'm not sure Kings fans would necessarily disagree with that even now. This board was ready to raise hell until we got Kaliyev after. It's actually pretty interesting, he called all the "picked too early" defensemen last year (Broberg, Vlasic, etc.)

Ducks will win and the Kings will get bumped to seven.

That link has the best explanation I've seen on how the draft lottery will work ... And it only took 11 paragraphs. That says it all.

While the NHL did their best apparently to make all teams happy, the result is that the first 35 minutes of the live broadcast will be spent explaining it to viewers (who still won't get it), and then if anything unexpected happens (it will) like a placeholder team getting a top 3 pick, they'll have to re-explain it.

And when that happens they'll then have to explain (again) how we won't know who that placeholder team (or teams) is/are until the play-in round is completed and we don't know yet when the play-in round will begin, nor, obviously, end.

They should have just had this after the play-in round. Just as complicated but at least we'd know for sure what teams will get all the picks and avoid the embarrassing live interview with Lafrieniere where he's asked to comment about what it will be like putting on the jersey for ... Team To Be Named Later.
