My favorite run so far.

Ran a draft lottery simulator at Tankathon - just once - and although it wasn't super for the Kings (they moved up to #3 and took Stutzle), both Sens picks dropped and they went 4th & 5th. Minny moved all the way up to #1.

I think I was happier at the Sens dropping out of the top 3 completely than LA moving up.

Sens could come away with some great players. Can’t mess this chance up. To bad they will only be able to pay one of them in the future tho.

Sens have typically been pretty money at the draft, this one should just be the icing on the cake for them. Kings have turned up #1 in a lot of rankings but that's because the best Sens prospects like Chabot and Tkachuk are already in the show, this one should cement them as #1, or at least give us a run for the money (we DO have more depth).

One question that has yet to be answered (to my knowledge) is if the lottery set the order for the top 15 for all 7 rounds? Or will the top 7 and eventually 8-15 be based on points% for rounds 2-7?

If they go by what they've done in previous drafts, the lottery is only going to determine who the top three picks are and the rest of the draft positions are set by the regular season winning percentage, meaning the Kings will have the fourth pick in every other round. That would mean the Kings will have the fourth pick, 35th overall in the second round.

And it's pretty much well known the Kings wanted Anthony Stewart at 26, but Florida traded up to select him and that seemed to throw the Kings off guard as they had to call a timeout, and teams aren't permitted to trade their picks when a timeout is called.

The Boyle selection has me thinking that the Kings would've taken Hugh Jessiman at 13 had he still been available at that spot. Remember, Dave Taylor had an infatuation with big centers, so that's where Boyle enters the picture.

They took three forwards in the first round and only one of them amounted to anything for the team, as Boyle had to move away from the Kings to find success elsewhere, and Tambellini was nothing more than a fourth line forward. And Corey Perry is the very next forward selected after Tambellini. Oof.

To make matters worse, the Kings took Konstanin Pushkarev one pick before Patrice Bergeron. A few picks later, the Predators draft Shea Weber.

Another fun miss came in the eight round. Kings selected Mike Sullivan who went on to play at Dave Taylor's alma mater, Clarkson. The guy went on to play in one season in the ECHL and his career went nowhere. The pick right after Sullivan? Dustin Byfuglien.

Crazy to miss so badly in the 2003 draft, although Boyle has carved out a nice career for himself.

I think that starting with the '06 Hurricanes through to the Penguins in 2016, every SC champ had a key contributor from that draft except Detroit; however, Jimmy Howard was taken in that draft and would be their starter for years. Even the Penguins had Eric Fehr in 2016 play 23 games in the playoffs.

You basically weren't winning a Cup for ten years unless you had some players from this draft. Pretty impressive. Fun fact is that Colin Fraser can be added to the list of 2003 draftees for the Kings in 2012.
