Say what you want, trading a 7th overall pick for a 60th pick in a couple short years just plain stinks and is bad asset management.

I like it, you make bad picks, horrible picks. Nobody will strike 100%.

Many handle their mistakes really poorly. Moving Lias is risky for Gorton, not NYR. Many GMs just let the kid rot.

Move on, it’s the right call. Make the 60 count instead.

I dont like the value for Lias Anderson

Would have been nice to get 35 so we could have gotten Khusnutdinov or 45 so we could have gotten Mysack, but oh well. What's done is done.

Not when the player turns the team down later on. What were the Rangers supposed to do? Lias gets what he wants to prove himself on a different team. The Rangers get a good prospect in Cuylle.

It was already a shit situation. It would've been bad asset management had Lias continued to try to make the Rangers.
Shit happens. Not every pick is going to work out.
I hear ya. I suppose the real fault is on management for picking him in the first place and not seeing some of his character flaws in interviews. It's not totally fair to the team to place blame, but just as you congratulate them for some great picks like Buch, Chytil ect, you have to be critical when something like this happens as well.

And I think that's why the NYR grabbed him where they did. NYR have a lot of high-IQ guys now. He can easily ride passenger on a line while somebody else controls the shift!

I always tried to grab him in Draft Sim, the Rangers like his potential as someone who rides shotgun on a third line, maybe even can slide into a second line role if he progresses. Skill mixed with sandpaper, and another kid with a clearly defined identity as an NHL prospect.

Yeah, I really hate the Schneider and Cuylle picks after making great picks for high upside, skillfull, high IQ players from all over the globe in 2018 and 2019. Afraid that we are going in a worrying direction after trading up twice to take two big physical low skill players.

Lias Andersson is a much better player up have goingh forward than Will Cuylle.

Bookmarked!

You mean things we complain about not having enough of and are needed to win in the playoffs?

That’s a good trade. I remember reading a year or two ago that 1st round reclamation projects usually cost a 2nd round pick. For example, someone like DeAngelo was traded by the Lightning to the Coyotes for a 2nd. And Andersson has less upside than DeAngelo in my opinion, and this is supposedly a deep draft, so even if it’s a late 2nd, it’s still good. I don’t know a lot about this prospect though, so I can’t comment on the pick itself
