If you wanna completely disregard everything that happened in between, sure.
Can't just punt responsibility. They decided to pick the kid and he didnt work out. Same could be said for the kids they would take credit for stealing that turn out great like Buch. Have to take the blame with the credit along the way.

With 2 wingers and an RHD drafted, my sources are telling me we are going Goalie with all remaining picks.

People will be angry that we traded a 7th overall a few years out for the 60th pick, but who cares. No one picked after Lias has been really lighting it up. At the time of that pick, it was much more important to our rebuild than it is now. With the luxury of picking 2nd overall and now 1st overall in consecutive years, the success of our rebuild will have nothing to do with that pick. Along the way mistakes will be made, it's impossible to make the right move 100% of the time
The 2017 draft was fairly weak which is why Arizona had no issue trading that high of a pick

well that was my favorite moment of the 2d day, NHL Network putting up the name of 65 before Wild announced the pick ...

I really liked Simontaival.

Me too, some good players still out there, I used to be really high on Zion Nybeck but he has dropped some for me. Had hoped for bigger steps during the summer. But he is still intriguing for sure.

Yes and No. That pick was made before the letter went out. We traded Stepan, but we had Hayes and Zibby. I think we were looking for that 3c player who can step in immediately and play a 2 way game. His flaws were definitely overlooked, but I don't think that pick was based on a rebuilding core player. Of course, now we're in a position where that pick didn't hurt us too bad.

Oh he definitely would not be a bad pick here. But as I said a few picks ago I still have about a half dozen guys higher.

I have about 20 guys left that I am happy with for 92nd
