EP's writeup on Cuylle :

"Cuylle is one of the most naturally gifted one-touch scorers in this year's draft. Put the puck on his stick, and he'll do the rest. Cuylle is a technically gifted shooter. He's got so much upper-body strength on that 6-foot-2, 201-pound frame of his, and he puts it to good use generating quick-release wrist shots explode off his stick's blade."

For those who wanted a kid with jam, who can blend with elite talent, this is your potential candidate right here.

He's not going to drive a line, but he's skilled enough that he can convert the chances he's given when paired with high IQ players.
And I think that's why the NYR grabbed him where they did. NYR have a lot of high-IQ guys now. He can easily ride passenger on a line while somebody else controls the shift!

I have said trading Strome for (2) 2nds would have been. I dont know where I said trade Strome for a late 2nd. But ok.
Not directed just at you, everyone wanted Strome for a 2nd but will complain about a guy who was never coming back getting a 2nd.

Good Pick. It’s sad how this ended for Lias but there were mistakes on both sides. He has big issues with maturity and The Rangers obviously misjudge Gus mental issues.

We have been pretty consistent with our drafting strategy for a long time. I just hope we haven’t changed strategy as some kind of knee jerk reaction to one PO series.

Yeah, I really hate the Schneider and Cuylle picks after making great picks for high upside, skillfull, high IQ players from all over the globe in 2018 and 2019. Afraid that we are going in a worrying direction after trading up twice to take two big physical low skill players.

Lias Andersson is a much better player up have goingh forward than Will Cuylle.

Cool- Lee

Say what you want, trading a 7th overall pick for a 60th pick in a couple short years just plain stinks and is bad asset management.

Not when the player turns the team down later on. What were the Rangers supposed to do? Lias gets what he wants to prove himself on a different team. The Rangers get a good prospect in Cuylle.

It was already a shit situation. It would've been bad asset management had Lias continued to try to make the Rangers.

Yeah I mean I think those people were nuts. The kid isnt a completely diminished asset. And has been playing well.

But it is done.

I saw some people liked Cuylle before the draft. LW though. Is he absolutely projected as a LW?

Yeah, straight forward wing...

Getting a player taht can both keep up with the elite talent if putting on a top line and also be a effective grinder if put on the bottom line would be great. Becomming a 15-20 goal scorer that can slide up and down the line-up and provide some physical precense would be great.
