Where Hendrix Lapierre goes is a big question. I think we are very likely. I don’t think he goes in the first round. And we have 4 second round picks.
If he is around in the 2nd we need to grab him at 33. Very skilled and word from his camp is that he wasn’t concussed, it was a neck issue. Big gamble but potential top 10 talent.

We have enough 2nd round picks and depth of prospects that i agree ot is a risk you take. I don't think he gets there though, some other team will pull the trigger in the mid to late 20s i suspect.

He will be going in the teens I think. I don’t want to take him there regardless of injuries, though I’m much lower on him than essentially everyone else; I’m likely on an island there. I’d take him at 33 for sure, but I think there are better options with the NYI pick.

Don’t think he has the goal scoring ability to translate into a consistent offensive guy, he’s a great playmaker but I don’t think goalies will never be scared of his shot or him keeping the puck to make the shot, he’s a pass first guy like Backstrom but doesn’t have the goal scoring ability (even to be a 20 goal guy year to year) to keep goalies honest.

wishlist right now
3 - byfield/stu

5- Raymond/rossi/drysdale

NYI pick- Holloway/perrault / Quinn

2nd round picks and beyond - Lapierre / Khusnutdinov / Gushchin / Benning / Orourke / Robbins / Foerster /

Im not sure why im even watching players slated to go in the second round the sens arent going to pick any of them

That never held back Adam Oates or Nik Backstrom.

He’s not as good as Backstrom with his play making skills, and his goal scoring and shot isn’t on the same level as even Backstrom who is normally a 20ish goal guy.

Oates is one of the best playmakers in NHL history, and was a 20ish goal a season guy, not sure Lapierre near that level.

In my opinion Lapierre isn’t on the same level with play making or goal scoring, and guys who are not good goal scoring threats usually have trouble at the NHL level transitioning their offense from the junior level.

To be dead honest, if I’m Ottawa. I do everything in my power to acquire a top 8-9 pick if we finish 15th. MORESO than getting Lafreniere. I really want to walk away with 2 top 5 picks and Jake Sanderson. We’d be absolutely set. I’d target Buffalo and NJD.

Or I do everything to acquire Sergachev (might cost us more than just trading up to 8-9 tbh).

First let’s see if NYI lose or not before I get ahead of myself.

Everything about Marco Rossi screams super star in the making. Only knock is his height to be honest otherwise I would have him # 2. Sens have to find a way to get this guy. He has a calm assassin type demeanor. You can tell he has the fire inside to be great. Reminds me a lot of Alfie, Datsyuk or even Backstrom at times. Watch his interview:

I feel like Rossi could end up being a player very similar to Alfie. He could play center but I think he'd be a very effective two-way LW. He seems like a high compete guy who will always be giving 100%. Having Tkachuk, Rossi, and Formenton on the left side would wear teams down, three guys that would be in your face shift after shift.

I would have a tough time choosing between Rossi and Raymond. Rossi gives the Sens yet another top-6 centre behind Byfield/Stutzle. 1-2 punch in C, supported by whichever of Norris/Logan/Pinto/White/draft picks to fill out the remaining centre roles will make this team a contender. Lightning rarely strikes the same tree twice, so 3&5 are really the golden keys to set up the foundation of this team lacking franchise type centres.

Next year, aim to bolster the defensive prospect cupboard where the defensive depth is better than this year's. Ideally, if there was an owner willing to spend a bit, they would have found a legit veteran D not named Hainsey in either a trade or UFA (although can't see them attract anyone of Pie calibre) to support Chabot and the team in their transition for the next few years.

I agree. This is the year for quality over quantity. Sens need high end talent not more guys in the bottom six or bottom D paring.

Rossi is the same size as JG Pageau

Pageau was able to find a place in the league, I don't see why Rossi wouldn't be able to
Rossi is shorter than JGP quite sure. Not that that means he won’t be successful. I do see him as a super JG (similar style, better at just about everything)
