No idea what the Rangers plans are but if they move him to center that completely changes the landscape of the team.

Well, his mother is really short though. You can use a very easy equation to compute a kid's final height (+/- 8,5 cm) factoring in both the mother's and father's height. They both play a role.

Kid's can definitely favor one over the other. My 14 year old niece is about 5 inches taller than my 16 year old niece (same parents).

So, this is not to put the cart before the horse, but Lafreniere is praised for his poise, leadership, ability to thrive under pressure... I really don’t want to see Kreider wear the C, and I don’t think Mika truly has the personality for it. I wouldn’t be upset if we rotate As for another year and see what kind of personality Lafreniere emerges as in his first season. Guys like Landeskog, Toews, Crosby and McDavid all got the Cs at early ages and it hasn’t hurt any of them. I’d be willing to go another year without a C, because Laf seems to have future C written ALL over him.

I started watching the Rangers in 1991-1992 when I was 10. Messier was the epitome of "captain." He could shoot, he could pass, he could skate, he backed down to no one, and got to the dirty spots often. He did whatever he needed to do to win the game.

Jagr and Drury didn't have all this. Callahan and McDonagh had heart, but not the skill or finesse. Kreider is has all this, but he doesn't seem to be able to put it all together at the same time in the same game. I do hope that giving him the C gives him the confidence he needs to get all his shit together in one bag.

This is not always the case
It generally (though not always) is the case though. One thing to keep in mind, as I alreadysaid, the final height usually falls within a range of 17 cm (around 7 inches). So there is definitely room to favor one parent more than the other. But both their heights set the boundaries and both are therefore important.

Man is this a great time to be a Rangers fan. I haven't felt this excited for the future since the Rangers had #2, #9, #21, #11, #35, #27.

I kind of feel the prospect pool in present day is somewhat deeper than 1994, obviously the jury is out if whether they will have 3 core hall of famers, homegrown or not.

I can't wait to see AL skating in a Rangers jersey. It really is so damn exciting.

I don't think they need to shoehorn him into it, and I also don't think we should be expecting it, but hoping that it's something that could happen also shouldn't be treated like it's "video games."

It's possible, though not necessarily likely. Worth discussing.

curious to see if he works on his skating and starts next year (whenever that is) with some surprising skills in that area. Seems like a very competitive guy striving to be the best and could see him as someone who works hard on his flaws
