If Ghule and one of Mysak, Biondi, Farrel, or Tuch are top 6 it's a great draft.
No complaint from me. But this was the year to pick at least one talented forward from the Q. It was a strong year for the Q. I mean, imagine if the draft would have happened in Montreal? Timmins would have had beer thrown at him from the stands.
I remember when I was following the Gatineau Olympiques scene more closely, and being at the Bob the year Giroux was scouted, Timmins was snobbish regarding the Q's quality of play. And although he tried to rewrite history after by stating that he liked Giroux, that's complete horseshit. He was pretty vocal to some other scouts and hockey people in the arena. He NEVER thought Giroux would amount to much. Because he had a prejudice against the Q.
Meanwhile, the team that won the Cup has splurged a plenty in the Q's pool, with not only locals, but Euros. Euros and locals that gave them the Cup, and not as simpletons, but key players.
The day Timmins leaves is the day that you will see more QUALITY locals drafted by the Habs. Taking the Fortiers of this world just to show some Q results is like drafting the kid from the Junior A BC team last year.
Habs probably made out good this year. But at equal evaluation, you go for the locals. I blame our two Q stooges for that. And Mr. Universe.
