Would Holloday fall to early 20s? . Not tall but heavy C
Close call but I say there are a few teams in the teens that would take a gamble on him. Dare I say even the Devils might take him especially if they grab a dman at #7. So probably won't fall to 23ish.
Would never have taken him if we were picking in the low teens (pre lottery) but at 23 could definitely be worth gamble if he's there.

I sure hope Reichel is on their radar. If he is there at 22ish I would be quite happy with him being selected. Let him marinate 1-2 years in the DEL.

Id be a little disappointed if they took a LW with that pick considering we likely have to move Kreider to RW already with Lafreniere and Panarin on the left side.

I know :( but he's such a talent that can really skate with the puck. Also has really decent IQ so who knows maybe him becoming a center isn't a reach but I understand right now with the glut of LW's we have.
Why can't Kreider be a third line left wing?

As talented as he is, his concussion history is a huge red flag for me. I understand players suffer concussions during their NHL careers, but using a 1st round pick on one who has had several before even making the NHL? That's a big risk

3 concussions AND a neck issue.

I think he goes off the board before we pick though. Hes a worthy risk for a team like NJ who will have 3 picks in the top 31 (maybe 3 in the top 20)

I think the Rangers would be very happy with Amirov.

Perrault is a guy whose talent should be on their radar, I just don't know if he's the guy they'd pick with some of the other names on the board.

Reichel could be on their radar --- they've followed Germany very closely in recent years, but have yet to take the plunge.

You have the safer choices too. Perrault's offensive gifts might need to outweigh that can you win with him factor, but I don't see it either.

German hockey is really coming on strong, money matters, and there are dollars in Germany that aren't there in Slovakia, so it's not a surprise to see them develop some players. Lots of ex-NHLers are finishing up there now too. Wouldn't surprise me if they start producing like Switzerland. Some of the younger folks might not know this, but 20 years ago picking a Swiss player was not something that happened every draft, you might have gone 3 years without a 12th rounder getting plucked.

Amirov has some hype around him but I don't know much about the guy. Reichel can play, and I expect him to take step in the DEL next year. Has some really really good underlying stats are not based on shot attempts from what I heard. But so do a lot of star european players who don't end up working out in NA.

Holloway is a good prospect but I think people are linking the Rangers to him mostly because he played with K'Andre last season. Depending on who's left on the board, I could see them take him
In my case, at least, I've mentioned him because of the profile, and because Wisco was such a shitshow that he's likely undervalued. Had nothing to do with Miller, other than the fact that they both suffered under Granato's leadership.

I remain on the Khusnutdinov or Reichel boat if we don’t trade the pick.
Question is could we trade down with San Jose or Anaheim if the Rangers want Khusnutdinov he could be around late first or early second no?

I will say that Holloway is a name that's consistently come up from my Rangers peeps going back to last year. I know they like him a lot.

And that's the thing, going into last year, he would've been 90% of the board's dream pick based on the profile (big, strong, fast, grinds, competes, plays C/LW, with surprising offense). Then, he has a crap freshman year on an arguably historically bad team where *everyone's* performance underwhelmed, including our own K'Andre Miller, and he's suddenly draft poison. If we could get him with the CAR pick, I'd be thrilled.

EDIT: which is not to say I wouldn't also be thrilled with a ton of other guys in that same position. If they keep the pick (not convinced they will) and 3-4 D + Askarov go before their slot, there will be a ton of intriguing forwards available. I'd also love Jarvis, Mercer, Reichel, Mysak...

And if they could somehow move up for Lundell, that'd obviously be a dream.

@Edge, who's your Farabee/Zegras for this year – have you mentioned yet?

Truth be told, I don't know if I have someone quite on that level this year.

Byfield might be the closest, just because I think the combination 5 years from now could be extremely unique in the NHL.

But it's weird, some years I just don't have a prospect who I just really dig as someone who could be one of my favorite players in the NHL.

Someone is going to fall. With Toronto trading into the top half of the draft, that means another defenseman will come off the board. It could start a run. Of course, Guhle might be the Rangers guy if he is available at their pick. It will be fun to watch.

Others (not necessarily me) suspected Guhle could've been their guy if they remained in the 10-12 range. I kind of felt like there were other guys they'd like more there.

But part of thought it was possible they could dig him if they'd gone further in the playoffs and their pick slipped a little.

I wonder if he would be a guy they trade up for if they're within range though.

for the prospect gurus, just for fun, how would you compare the long term potential of alex turcotte (last years 5th overall) and lucas raymond (maybe 5th overall this year)?

I don't think I'm really that into any of the 4 defenseman we've talked about to go in the top 20ish or so

the more dmen plus askarov that go in the top 20ish the better...increases the chances of a forward dropping to our pick or a pick close enough that we could possible trade up for.
