Agree on Raymond. On talent alone, he should be 3rd overall. But it's the other stuff that makes me a bit weary. What I think is interesting is that a lot of the criticism Gunler gets, I have seen from Raymond more so than Gunler.

If you're the Rangers, and you're sitting at 10 or 11 and Raymond is there, passing on him is very difficult.

You have to be damn sure that the guy you're getting is a top six, or at least a higher end second line center.

Joey, how much impact on the draft board do you think there will be from teams scouting early season games in Europe?

I think it's a factor, but not as much as Europeans actually playing hockey unlike a lot of NA prospects. I feel that will affect a lot going on in the draft.

Looking further ahead, how much will this upcoming season affect the development of prospects who are now 14-16 years old? If there is no/limited hockey in most junior leagues, will that cause their development to stagnate, and will we see a huge influx of European prospects in 2-4 years in the draft especially in the earlier rounds? Not playing competitive hockey for a full season can kill a career

Well if it's around the No. 7 range and Holtz is on the board still, I would hope NYR trade up for him. Think he'd be a great addition to this team on a scoring level and two-way level.

I think they'd explore it if they're within 3 or 4 picks. The offer would definitely include be the Carolina pick, and probably something else.

Oh, at 11 I don't hesitate. I was more referring to the 3-8 range. I think there are better options avvailable in that range, all things considered.

I think it gets interesting if they find someone like Sanderson or Lundell on there.

I think both of those guys are ranked higher by the Rangers than they are on here.

I have Lundell at 6, and Sanderson at 10 in my personal top 10

The draft being so late is interesting because I do wonder how it's going to affect team's scouting. A team might have Lundell at 15 today, but after seeing him play this fall, he shoots up to their top 5

It could be a blessing or a curse depending on where the Rangers pick

That scares the shit out of me. Even if it's early for some players, the "Rangers rankings" haven't looked all too good.

No knock on Sanderson, who seems to be legit.

Sanderson is seen by many as potentially being the best defenseman in this draft. So the Rangers wouldn't be along there.

Lundell is more of a gray area. Everyone agrees he's a very good prospect. The disagreement is whether he projects as a 1B/2, or more of a 2/3 type.

Personally, I'm hoping one of the wings drops because I think it becomes easier to say, "Win or lose, that was the right pick to make."

Let’s say the Rangers top 4 is off the board, who would you personally want them to take?

Let’s assume the group is Lundell, Raymond, Rossi, Perfetti, Sanderson and Drysdale

I really hope this thread turns into a Lafreniere vs Byfield thread (Laf of course) or arguments about if the Rangers should trade #1. Please let us win this damn lottery.

No, it should be a resounding agreement that the pick would be Lafreniere every day of the weak. He compares to Crosby in his draft year.

I agree but some people are interested in trading the pick. I want Laf, i wouldn't trade that pick no matter what

In order....

Drysdale
Rossi
Perfetti
Lundell
Raymond
Sanderson

The last three is a toss up. I'd take any in that list, though.

I don't believe people are actually trying to seriously trade the pick. Think the discussion was more speculative that then got a little out of hand.
