No way is Couturier available. Flyers had a horrible season but they're not pulling the plug.
We'll see.

What teams could potentially have interest in Kadri?
The issue there I think is what Danault wants. He sees Suzuki and Kotka surrounding him.I'm guessing after this, no way in hell is Danault leaving--Montreal is gonna give him what he wants.
I think the Flyers are more likely to go the other way and be in the Jones mix than trade their best player and 1C for futures.

I’d agree from the outside it probably is. I think he wants a different role though.Frankly that’s a perfect situation for him. He gets to be a checking center and top line center at the same time. There’s nowhere else he’ll be a better fit. Obviously they want Kotkaniemi and Suzuki to play bigger roles as they develop but I’m not sure they can.

Except this time he joins 2 of the top 5 players in the game.Reminds me of when Shawn Marion wanted out of Phoenix.
Bye Soda.
I was happy to see him back but in hindsight it was a hell of a bad pick up.
Nemeth, Soda and Dubnyk.
Yikes.
I know it's probably just media posturing but weren't there reports earlier that said Danualt doesn't care what his role will be with Montreal so long as they pay him what he feels he's worth? The issue there I think is what Danault wants. He sees Suzuki and Kotka surrounding him.
From what I remember he wanted to be put in more offensive situations. Aka I think he wants a legit 2C roleI know it's probably just media posturing but weren't there reports earlier that said Danualt doesn't care what his role will be with Montreal so long as they pay him what he feels he's worth?
Ah yes you're right, just found the article now and in 2020 he was asked if his potential role on the team would affect his decision to re-sign in Montreal and he said "yes."From what I remember he wanted to be put in more offensive situations. Aka I think he wants a legit 2C role
I’d bump Kadri to 3C and bring Danault here in a nanosecond.Ah yes you're right, just found the article now and in 2020 he was asked if his potential role on the team would affect his decision to re-sign in Montreal and he said "yes."
So yeah, I think he's gone. No way Montreal wants to block the road for Suzuki/Kotkaniemi to play 1/2 on that team.
Do blind people get to board in the first boarding group?
Alright so did some cap crunching and here it is: Avs certified offseason to guarantee a cup next year:
- Trade Sam Girard + JT Compher + Martin Kaut for Seth Jones. Kaut is the cost for dumping JTC in the deal. Avs then sign Seth Jones to a 7 year/56M extension.
- Ryan Graves is selected by Seattle in the expansion draft.
- At the draft, Avs trade 2021 1st + Connor Timmins + to Philly for Sean Couturier
- Avs sign Gabriel Landeskog to a 7 Year, 50M extension. 7.14M cap hit
- Avs sign Cale Makar to an 8 Year, 75M extension. 9.375M cap hit.
- Avs sign Philip Grubauer to a 5 Year, 26M extension. Personally dont love the idea of 5 years, think 3-4 would be better. But in order to keep the aav in the 5 range and not 6, the Avs go the 5 years. 5.20M cap hit.
- Avs sign Tyson Jost to a 2 Year, 2.2M contract. 1.1 aav.
Landeskog - Mackinnon - Rantanen
Burakovsky - Couturier - Newhook
Donskoi - Kadri - Nichushkin
O'Connor - Jost - Ranta
Toews - Makar
Byram - Jones
MacDonald - ???
Grubauer
Francouz
Johanson
That roster would come in at 74.175M.
Which would also mean one of two things. Either the Avs could actually keep Erik Johnson as the 3rd pairing RHD, meaning with his 6M cap hit we'd hit 80.175M leaving us just enough space for one more league minimum contract as an extra forward or Dman. Or, if the Avs buy out EJ, he carries a 2.0M cap hit for the next 4 years. Which would then mean we'd have a 76.175M cap hit for next year leaving us with roughly ~3M to spend on a 3rd pairing RHD, and another 1.8M or so to spend on a pair of extra skater(7th D and 13th forward) to fill out the roster.
Pittsburgh would be my team to watch for Kadri, Burke loves Kadri and wants to add to Pittsburgh’s snarl. Kadri wasn’t that guy this year but Burke will still think he is.What teams could potentially have interest in Kadri?
