One reason not to seek an exemption for Francouz. It meets the requirement to expose a contracted goalie which opens up trading Miska to a team needing one to meet their requirement.

I think the Avs might need to buy him out at this point. I don't know how this team swallows two years at $6M for a third pairing guy.
He'll get Hossa's disease.
I still think they'll buy EJ out. I know they don't want to but they gotta free up cap space, unless Joe somehow magically unloads all these bad contracts in the same offseason.
You know... my biggest fear with EJ is he plays one game in the playoffs and the NHL won't allow him to be exempted. It sucks because of his leadership, but the best move is to just buy him out if he wants to continue his career.

I'll never understand this place. The whole team has been playing poorly and we're here criticizing.......Tyson Jost again.
The guy who's played the best hockey of his career this season and been one of the Avs best players against Vegas.
The guy who only trails the top line and Saad in post season goals and points among forwards this year.

So do I. Jost is fine as a 3C. Even if he doesn't have top end production.
The Avs led the league in goals with Jost's production as 3C. And the only forwards that have produced more than him in the playoffs are the top line and Saad.

But I do feel bad about what Bednar has received for "Help" at the deadline. Needed a center for center depth and needed a dman to replace EJ on the PK.
Sakic gave him Soda (who's no longer a center it seems) and Nemeth.
So dumbass Kadri got suspended and now we don't have any other center than f***ing JT Compher again.
So yeah, I blame Sakic for a large part of this mess.

The C depth is embarrassing and has been not good enough our entire contention window. It would’ve been passable this year but unfortunately Kadri is too brain dead to learn that hitting dudes in the head is illegal.
