Watch him end up playing for a team in our division next season.
Going home to Dallas.

I’d like to keep Saad. He’s a good depth scorer and is incredible around the net.
I think he’s going to Edmonton though. They’ve got cash to spend and could use someone like him. I think they’ll overpay, if that’s what it takes to get him.
I don't think Makar will sign for 7 or 8 years and if less than that then it would be better if he signs a bridge anyway.I don't think the Avs will have too much problem keeping Saad if they want too. The cap being projected as flat for another few years is going to keep salaries in check. Unfortunately though, I think getting Makar signed long term might be a struggle. I bet his camp will only negotiate a bridge.

None of that 4, 5 or 6 year nonsense please.
Rants will be UFA in only 4 years and it's way too soon.
I think we are able to keep Mack, Landy, Byram, Girard and Makar but we lose Rants.I don't think Rants will cost much more to re-sign, I expect him to get a slight pay raise (i.e. ~$9.5-10 mil) for 8 years - similar to Malkin going from a 5 x $8.7 mil contract to a 8 x $9.5 mil contract.

I think team success will play a favor in that as well. If we’ve won a cup or two I can see Mikko wanting to cash in.I wouldn't be surprised if that is the scenario, it'll be up to Rants if he wants to take a team-friendly deal or chase the money.

So glad we got outbid for him.Reminder TOR had to give up a 1st for Foligno who's way worse than Saad.
Most clubs will let the dust settle for a day or so after big news breaks, but two clubs reached out to Kekalainen on Sunday. A flood of calls is expected beginning Monday or Tuesday after the holiday weekend. If you’re the betting sort — and isn’t everybody these days? — the early favorite appears to the Los Angeles Kings, given their stable of prospects and their pile of draft picks. Chicago and Montreal are expected to be major players, too.

Should have outbid Boston for Hall though
Main thing for me was clearing out JTC’s salary.Tyler Benson can't skate at this level. Waste of a prospect, he'll be AHL bound for his career unfortunately.
Amazing, too since he was the most dominant 13/14 year old player in Alberta at that age.
So, will Kadri be a winger next season?
Toronto would be stupid to trade Nylander. Which means it’s likelyI feel a Nylander for Kadri trade would advantageous for both teams. And by both teams, I mean the Avs.
If we can’t afford Saad we most definitely won’t be able to afford Hyman.Hyman is a UFA. Depending on his price, I wouldn't mind him. Especially if Saad walks and Donskoi gets picked by SEA.

Why would rebuilding teams still in their in early stage like Chicago and LA pay top prospects and picks for Jones who won't be in his prime anymore when/if they are ready to compete?
If the Avalanche postseason keeps up I'm thinking teams out west might get reactionary and go hard after the premium pieces on the block like Eichel and Jones. Plus you have to figure Dubas needs to make a splash due to the intense pressure in Toronto. Add that in with all the cap dumping and the expansion draft it's going to be an intense off season.Blake all but said in his exit interview that he’s looking to make a big swing to jumpstart the rebuild. I’m not saying getting Jones is the right move but they’re likely looking to augment the roster a little more aggressively this season. I think the Hawks are in a similar spot. Both teams have vets who don’t have much time left. A few of those vets are likely pushing the front office to either make a move or blow it up even further. In fact I know Doughty said on his way out the door that another quiet offseason would not be acceptable.
