Because Toews play 25 minutes and Girard 22 minutes Byram will play 13 minutes .(without pp time)
We don't have so much Elc top forward. O'rourke will be a perfect second pair and Boldy and Newhook are our next Mack-Rantanen.

I like Boldy a lot but I don't like him THAT much.

This might be his last game for Montreal tonight and I honestly have no clue how much he's worth as an UFA. We know that wingers last year weren't worth much. Will he still get as much as JGP?

I wouldn't mind trying Patrick as a 3C option. He's still pretty young and has some shine left on him. If Jost can break out at his age (Patrick is six months younger) I don't see why Nolan couldn't do the same with a change of scenery and a limited role.

I'd move Kaut for the opportunity to give him a shot pretty easily, and I still like Kaut. Not sure what the price would be beyond that but that's a gamble I'd take to see if maybe he just didn't fit in in Philly.

The Avs really liked him his draft year and was the consensus #1 on their list.
I like Nolan Patrick, but I worry about bringing him in. When I watched him in Philly he was always seemed to be one step behind the play. I think the issue was that he's a limited skater so he needs to process at a higher level than others around him...not sure all the time off helps him here. If the price is right I'm down.

At the right price I wouldn’t mind a flyer on him. But overall I think there are a lot of options elsewhere that would better fill the 3C role. Or at least safer options.

Kadri could still be an attractive piece to a team like Washington, especially with the rumours of Kuzy on the way out. He’s had a bad season, but $4.5 mil for a #2C is still a pretty good contract, and I’d bet Kadri bounces back for his contract year.

Kuznetsov with some salary retained for Kadri

Works for both teams.

Nope. He's worse than Kadri.

Even Friedman in a recent podcast said that Kuznetsov is terrible now, and he never says that kind of stuff.

He is worth leaving unprotected in the upcoming NHL expansion draft. Dare the Seattle Kraken to take the $7.8 million average annual value of his contract for the next four years.

I'm not asking why the Avs might be interested. I'm asking where he got the information that Patrick wants out. The best I could find when I looked into it was complete speculation that he might want out.

Also, I'm a bit confused: are people assuming Jost will be 2C, 3C or 4C next season? I originally thought 4C, but now I'm hoping the Avs aren't thinking 2C. He still seems like the ideal 4C - a guy who can drive play and work with his linemates, kill penalties and play up in the lineup at times, but not someone who will put up many points.

Well with the info that he wants to leave his people are putting 2 and 2 together and saying they’ll inquire. Nothing concrete.

Danault really played some epic level defensive hockey in that last game. He was also driving play offensively, but he simply has zero finish to his game. Truly an elite 3rd line center who is so good defensively that you have to play him higher in the lineup than his offensive abilities dictate.
