Show me where I said it’s *all* effort and size? Also don’t recall ever questioning effort.Did you type this?
The platypus has lasted a long time, and the Flyers are 3-1. Nature doesn't care how you survive, "you win or you die out" in the evolutionary GOT.
You mean Tainter in Spring Training?Excellent news! I knew it!

Soooo what’s your suggestion? In a cap world. Are they supposed to have 8 Provorovs in the system? Tampa won a Cup last year with Luke friggin Schenn, past-his-prime Shattenkirk, and the corpse of Braydon Coburn logging time on defense in playoff/Cup final games. I don’t know what alternate reality you live in where the bottom pair/depth/7th Dmen are supposed to be studs.Scenarios like this are why "he's just a 7th defenseman"and "he's just a bottom pair defenseman" ring hollow.

edit: And before you say “get better players”, this team is hamstrung cap-wise by the likes of the JVR and Voracek contracts, so there is limited space. Not to mention the numerous young guys that are due for upcoming extensions, as well as the upcoming Couturier extension, all in a flat cap world for the next 2-3 seasons.
And contact looked like it was avoided! Freak injury. The f***ed up thing about Frost's injury is that it was a result of trying to avoid contact. This is why preseason is important. These guys need to ease back into the physicality of the NHL.
f*** off Bettman.
Anyone have a timetable on a return for him? Indefinitely is never a good word.
Double shifting JVR?
No one even tries to be accurate in any level of media reporting now, they just want to be first. And that doesnt.eben include the intentional slanting of stories for political purposes.Still awful but that’s a massive difference. Our media (if he even counts) sucks.

Hard to say without knowing more about the injury. But, probably a minimum of 3 months.
Excellent post. I agree. They’re being told that? You’re in the locker room and in team meetings? Interesting, didn’t know we had a member of the organization here on the boards. Anyway, let’s assume, for the sake of this discussion, that you’re right, and they are being told that. Want to take a guess as to why? Which forwards have shown the ability to successfully gain the offense zone with speed and full control of the puck and do so on a consistent basis? Hayes? Probably the best example with the way he used his body to shield the puck, but he’s not blowing anyone away with speed. Voracek? Has the ability, doesn’t do it nearly enough. Giroux? Yeah, maybe prime Giroux, but the not current version. JVR? Lol. The closest thing is probably Konecny, and sometimes his hands are too fast for his brain and he is erratic with the puck on his stick (Islanders really took advantage of this in the playoffs). This team is coached as best as they can to their strengths. They do have some straight line speed up front, which would be my guess as to why they dump and chase, as they maybe figure they can win foot races to pucks in the corners/behind the net. But once they’re met there by the opposing Dmen, it’s usually 1-2 quick passes and an easy breakout for the opposition. Carry the puck in with this group, they’re often knocked off the puck on the half wall and it’s going the other way.

Depth is insanely important and almost impossible in the cap era.It was definitely a glancing blow and about the worst possible outcome for the actual contact that occured.
Kid finally gets a legit f***ing chance and this happens.
I hate this sport sooooo much.
