I like Drysdale and everything, but let's solidify our centers for the next decade before we pull any crazy moves.

It doesn't even matter. Like Brian Burke said in his interview in The Athletic, nobody pulls big draft day deals anymore for high picks. GMs are too fearful of getting burned. The only way to end up with a top 5ish draft choice via trade is making the trade a year in advance and then having it turning into a high draft choice ala Ottawa/San Jose.

It's not like the Kings are stocked at wing, either. There are going to be a whole lot of openings at wing in the top 6 in the next couple of years. Some of these centers are going to be moved over to left or right wing. Name me your top 6 in 2022. I'll start by penciling in Kaliyev and Fagemo as 2 of the wings.

Thomas is going to end up on the wing as well imo.

I highly doubt the Kings will use Turcotte, Vilardi, Byfield, and Kopitar at center at the same tome, so we’re looking at at least one elite winger, likely two. Then we’ve got Kaliyev and Fagemo as well. Madden likely moves to wing too.

Turcotte - Byfield - Vilardi
Fagemo - Kopitar - Kaliyev
Madden - Thomas - Kupari

If even half of those guys make the team long-term, we are in for a treat.

Maybe, but that is also just slotting all of our prospects into the roster and we all know how rarely things work out that way. I doubt the Kings would be using them all at the same time period. That roster, if it happens, is still two seasons away at least, and likely some of those guys either bust or get traded in between.

They're sort of where they were at the 2008 draft. Once they knew they were getting Doughty, who by all accounts was a no miss, they started accelerating the process. That's when they moved Visnovsky, and within 12 months or so they had Williams, Smyth, and Scuderi too. However, by the 2008 draft, they had known quantities in Kopitar and Brown. None of the guys that the future of the team is potentially being built around are known quantities yet.

Top 5 scorers in 07-08:

20 years old
25 years old
22 years old
22 years old
25 years old

Top 5 scorers in 19-20:

32 years old
25 years old
34 years old
29 years old
27 years old(if you include Toffoli)

So in terms of trading Turcotte for another high pick to fill a potential hole in the roster, I wouldn't say there's a 100% argument against it, but we have no idea what Turcotte is or isn't. If he's any good, there's plenty of time to trade him if need be. Also have to ask, if there's a franchise type defenseman available to draft, do you trade that guy for a forward? Look what's happening in Dallas at the moment. Forwards are easier to find. If there's no franchise level d-man in the draft, do you want to trade Turcotte for that guy? Since the draft is so damn important due to the cap, this is why very few fun trades are made anymore.

I would say the way to go is wait. So much of the future has barely played an NHL game yet. It's about 50 games collectively.

Is there any player in the 2021 draft projected to be better than Sergachev? Would Tampa consider our first with top three protection?

Owen Power is intriguing. Makes Byfield look average sized.

Lambos, Clark, and Hughes are the top of the class as well but a bit more of the skill guys on the back end.

Asked John Hoven about Matt Dumba. Reports say MIN is shopping him. 3 years left at 6 million. 26 Years old, might be a good fit for the right price. Dumba > any UFA we have a chance of picking up.

I don't think the Kings need to make significant move at all.

Just sign another Hutton or Fantenberg type and hope Anderson/Bjornfot/Clague earns a spot over them. Done.

I would be okay with the Kings extending Hutton at a fair price. He played decent enough and wasnt a huge liability. It allows the kids to develop and he can be traded at the deadline for a pick or prospect if necessary.

Side note- Why did the Insider get put on double secret probation again?

Hell of a name, Owen Power.

I'd love to touch his name.

I would say the Kings are not yet in a position to be adding a 26 year old with that contract.

Pass, we don't need a RHD.

A lot of past tense here. Tyler probably wants to come back home.

The Ducks are pretty close.

I think Ghost could be had dirt cheap and would fill a need for LA.
Vegas 2nd rounder and Amadio...easy pass from the Flyers? Given every team's desire to cut salary purchase cost could be low, and he was healthy scratch for the Flyers and him and AV do not see eye to eye.

As an option, we could sign Hutton to 2 years. We need to expose a defenseman for the expansion draft. If all works out with the 3 LHD, then we can trade Hutton after the draft. I don't want to have to play MacDermid 25 games over one of Clague, Bjornfot, or Anderson. If MacD plays 25 games in a shortened season, something has gone wrong.

Nothing bad was happening, seems somehow when it gets to a certain number of comments it locks itself automatically, and no one is home to mind the store to fix it apparently.
Yeah, I was gonna say the first time around there was a bunch of animosity and mayhem. This time around it had been extremely mellow.

They just turned off the comments for the long weekend. No one in their right mind wants to babysit that petting zoo over the holiday.

Heck, they even stopped the one-paragraph courtesy posts every few days. Two signings and not even a copy-paste of the press release.

I’d expect the whole place will get put on ice until the draft.
