Maatta is the only top-4 D Lisa had in her list.
Dillon and Edmundson are bottom pair guys. Minor upgrade over MacDermid.
Edmundson is really slow to my eye. Good on D from a skill perspective but easily beatable by modern speedster wingers.
If these are our options, Hutton would remain relevant.
Well darn, I went off Sharks memory of him. I stand corrected.Wut? Dillon is top 3 on the caps and was only number 4 on the Sharks because of Burns, Karlsson Vlasic ahead of him. Just say no to Edmundson, Kings are swimming in bottom pairing D's.
Edmundson was actually top 4 in ice time on the Cup winning Blues, only Pietrangelo, Parayko and Bouwmeester saw more ice time.
He was also 4th in ice time on Carolina's deep blueline, with Slavin, Hamilton and Pesce being those who logged more ice time (later they added Skjei at the deadline who bumped ahead of Edmundson).
In the playoffs, Edmundson was 3rd in ice time for the Hurricanes with only Slavin and Hamilton logging more ice time. He actually averaged over 23 minutes in four playoff games and the Hurricanes suffered a big loss when he went down in the playoffs.
Edmundson also led all Hurricanes defensemen with 118 hits and was second behind Slavin in blocked shots.
Given his age and experience, I don't think he's anyone the Kings would scoff at and would fit in playing beside Drew Doughty. Dillon would be a great fit as well.
"Having too many elite centers is a problem," said no one ever.
Toronto’s on the line! Kidding!! I kid!
Good interview at the Athletic...Dillman w/Turcotte on a few different topics. Had great things to say about the new Reign coach, but this was the tidbit that I liked:
"
Presumably, the extra-long break has had some unexpected benefits. How are you balancing your off-ice and on-ice training?
We’re skating a good amount every week and we’re working out, Monday through Friday, off ice. It’s been hard. A “good” hard and challenging. It’s been great for my body, rehabbing injuries from this last year and just building a lot of strength. I feel the best I’ve ever felt in my life, honestly. I’ve already had four, five months of offseason training, more than I normally would have had in an offseason. I’m taking advantage of it. I feel unbelievable and still have a few more months. It’s been awesome."
I'm not super big on analytics, but Edmundson got absolutely demolished possession wise this season when compared to the rest of the Canes roster. He was by far the worst by rel CF%(-12.87), rel SF(-12.92), rel SCF(-16.31), rel HDCF(-18.65). Those stats are not the full story, but those numbers are extraordinarily bad. You could point to him being last on the team in offensive zone faceoff% as a good reason, except Hutton also was last on the Kings by that metric, yet still put up great possession numbers relative to the team. Edmundson basically got caved in when he was on the ice, I just don't think he is as valuable as some believe. There is use for a solid bottom pairing warrior, but I don't think Edmusndson is going to become a Matt Greene with us and I most definitely don't think we should be having Doughty carry him around as a partner.
Isn’t Travis Hamonic a UFA - any interest in him?

I don't know if Doughty is putting in any extra time that isn't on a video game.
Edmundson and Dillon would be terrible signings as UFAs. No way you hand out a multi year contract to either of those guys. I’d rather take a shot at a depth signing, similar to Hutton. Maybe some 24 to 28 year old European player is available on D.
Saying we need to sign a partner for Doughty is a joke. The guy is paid $11M a season, he needs to carry any partner given to him. Getting rid of Forbort should be the move that helps Doughty on the ice. Matt Roy is turning into a smart and steady player. Let him pair with Doughty and see what happens.
Forget Bjornfot w/DD. He's smaller than DD and a puck mover as well. Yes, you might see them together when trying to catch up or on the PP but that's it. Roy w/Doughty is a joke. There is a formula that works:Roy has played the right side his entire pro career. He needs to stay as the rock on the 2nd pairing. Bjornfot could be the perfect partner for Doughty, if he is ready. We'll see.

LHD/RHD one is a puck mover the other a SAH usually w/size. Anyone remember Muzzin/Amart? Two solid D men that turned into a Jack "Minus Forever" farce when paired together.
NYR fan coming in peace. Curious about Turcotte. Any chance he will be available? You guys should have some really nice center depth and should add more after this draft so maybe Turcotte is expendable? If so, would Vitali Kravstov plus a small add interest you? We have lots of wingers but no centers so maybe there is a deal here?
We need to go Lafreniere lol nice tryYou can select Byfield
Kravtsov is a pretty big drop off from Turcotte. I doubt the kings would have any interest in this. For example in Scott Wheelers rankings from a month ago, Turcotte was #7 overall (and in the article he said any of the top 7 were in the running for #1 overall) Kravtsov was the 35th overall prospect.NYR fan coming in peace. That makes sense. I was looking through prospects and he stuck out so i figured i ask you guys since you have the info on him.Kravtsov is a pretty big drop off from Turcotte. I think the kings will end up just moving some of our C prospects to wing and if it's Turcotte who goes to W, he's likely a better W than Kravtsov.
