Ignoring that it’s too early to make a big trade, is Eichel really the guy if you did. Buffalo are underperforming constantly and he doesn’t seem to lead that team in any meaningful way. We’d have to give up a huge number of culture guys and I’m sure end up regretting it.
This argument.... Guess we all would ignore Yzerman too because he sucked and couldn't carry DET for several years too right?! Would depend upon the offer yet adding Eichel is a 0 brainer if possible and semi fair. Eichel is and was a step up from any prospect in our system and still young with a decade of top hockey left. I agree Dahlin would be the better add yet if an offer makes sense and you can land an Eichel... One does.

I'd trade Byfield + for Eichel 100%. However, if we can get Eichel without having to trade Byfield...even better.

Buffalo may be dumb enough to trade him for some of our lesser assets if we throw in more quantity...who knows?

What a shame. He rounded out the lineup in a certain way we hadnt seen in a long time. All 4 lines were rolling in the first two games of the win streak with him and lias anchoring the bottom six. I like lizotte but for whatever reasons the flow of the lines changes without dolan. Amadio changes things also.

He got crunched pretty good, just hope it's just his shoulder and not also dealing with a concussion.

I wouldn't trade Byfield. I think he could be a generational center. I don't think you trade for Eichel. Let Turcotte come up and play wing and then fill the rest of the forward core with the guys who are ready. There's no need for Eichel.

Kings are in a weird spot right now to make moves. They are fighting for a playoff spot with the vets pulling the school bus forward but we know we need to move on from them eventually. Carter's value? I'l be happy with a 3rd I guess.

What's the ask for Jeff Carter?

Kings willing to retain on guys right now?
Carter with retention is probably a 2nd+.

Kings can retain any deal, but if they can keep gunning for the playoffs thsts the more important goal. Both for developing the younglings and rewarding the vets who are crushing it together this season.

I actually think LA should hold onto him this season. Guy seems great with the young forwards and isn't a detriment on the ice. In actual salary, he's cheap and he's not blocking any of the kids from playing time. At the moment, another 3rd round pick doesn't interest me.

Agreed. We have too many prospects... extra ones don’t help.

If they stay in the race, nobody from the roster is getting dealt. Minus overpayment.

Not that they should necessarily add to the team if they stay in the race. Unless it doesn't really cost anything. Like the deal with Arizona in 2018.

yeah we really don't need any more picks outside the 2nd round.

We have depth up the wazoo to where we probably need to jettison some.

Trading players for anything less than a 1st/2nd or blue chip prospect isn't a good move. I'd rather have guys' contracts just run out honestly.

I agree, but does not hurt to listen to offers

Agree. His salary has a lot of value during COVID times. A 2 or 3 C/W at $2M is super valuable for a contender. Even if LA retains 50%, we'll be paying $1M and get a &2.6M cap hit (which isn’t a concern for Kings). Back to Philly or would Hextall be interested in him in Pittsburgh?
Not sure what we’d be looking for as a return - maybe one of Flyers young DMen?

what's the offer

We have a 2nd this year [and a few late picks] - then every pick going forward 2022+.

I was thinking more of a roster player going back - asking LA to eat probably half his salary I wouldn't be looking at trying to send nothing back in return. What position would make the most impact right now? We have a surplus of similar high-side/low-side forwards - and one extra LD. Marcus Pettersson (LD) and Brian Dumoulin (LD) are both worth more than Carter even at 50% - but a multi player/pick deal wouldn't be out of the question.

Btw this would not be entirely mutual among Pens fans. We have a healthy portion who won't consider anyone over 25 years old or who can't fly up and down the ice. I think Carter would be a wonderful 3/4C for our club who could help stabilize the bottom 6.

I feel like the Kings are going to already have some really good prospects lost in the shuffle without bringing more in. because of that it would need to be a deal that blows the doors open.
