how do Kings fans feel about Lias Amdersson this season? love Cuylle great trade for Rangers

Wasted asset, some posters will try and prop it up. But he is what he is, and has/had been replaced (until he got hurt) by a previous second rounder.

I liked the lineup better with lias and dolan centering the bottom six over lizotte and amadio.
Also like it better with maatta on the 3rd pair and macdermaid in the press box.

Iafallo - Kopitar - Brown
Kempe - Vilardi - Carter
Grundstrom - JAD - Moore
Andersson - Lizotte - Athanasiou

Bjornfot - Doughty
Anderson - Roy
Clague - Walker

With JAD injured, I would give Kupari a shot at center between Grundstrom and Moore.

Guys I should be running this team I'm telling you.

Thank goodness you're not because it would make too much sense. We would certainly be better then we are, and most certainly not be in the Cower for power sweepstakes. You mean you won't be sending Amadio out as the 6th forward with the goalie pulled. Damn it!!! ;)

The guy has played 11 games and 120 minutes in a Kings sweater, I'm not quite ready to throw dirt on his casket yet, especially given the rehab job.

This.
His last game he was in, he was with Luff and Wagner. Lias was skating well, won a few battles and got the puck to Luff on a 2 on 1, with a great pass, that was not an easy one...Luff didn’t get a great shot off. Next shift, Lias got it right on Luff’s tape from an offensive zone face off. Again, just a meh shot.
Not once that game, did Luff or Wagner get Lias a pass in the O zone.
Kopitar would have not had a better game that game, if he had those terrible 9 minutes with those 2.
Lias goes to the net and has good hands. He’s a much better player than Amadio, Luff and I think he’s better than Lizotte (who has done little) and Wagner. Lias has not had a legit shot.
The play of the JAD line (pre JAD injury) one thing that made them awesome, were all 3 of JAD, Moore and Grundstrom were all working as a unit and getting the puck to each other...they all had about 2-4 touches every shift. If Lias was part of a unit like that, he would excel

Considering the fact that Todd found Amadio worthy enough to be the extra man at the end of the game, I have little faith that Elon Musk will be launching Amadio into the atmosphere anytime soon.
I already have this all figured out

We buy a big sack of the sticky icky and invite Elon over to watch Scooby Doo. Then once he is good and high we order a pizza , but don't share it until he agrees to launch Amadio in the next Mars mission and start calling him Amarsios!

I don’t think the problem w Lias is his ozone play. Last time I saw him he was in the dzone on a simple rim around. He proceeded to pick up no one and his guy got an easy tap in goal from an uncontested centering pass. Haven’t seen him on the ice since.

When you have a rebuild team and all your future stars are simmering in the minors ...

... you play least common denominator hockey:

blue collar
lunch pail
work
outwork

All system all the time.

To do that well, you keep the roster fresh, you keep the guys motivated, you plug in the kids EVERY GAME.

What we need is Walker on LD slot, Strand in for MacD ...

... then swap some fresh kids in. Kupari, Andersson ... swapping bottom 6 guys ain’t gonna break the team but it can spark some hustle.

The way I'm reading it is that Clague nor Strand are eligible for the expansion draft because they haven't played enough NHL games to qualify. They need to play 16 and 20 more games, respectively, to qualify. I think that is the main reason that Claguer isn't in the lineup, in perticular.

from capfriendly's expansion draft simulator
Clague, Kale22LD$761,666RFA (2021)16 GR
Strand, Austin24RD$735,000RFA (2021)20 GR

You reading it wrong.

They eligible as 3rd year North American pro players.

What they do not meet is the NHL games requirement to be considered veteran NHL players, but that don’t protect them from being selected, should Seattle choose to do so.

Agreed. It makes no sense to bring up and ‘reward’ Kupari, by putting him on the taxi squad and not giving him a few games. It hurts Ontario and keeps Kupari from getting much needed ice time for him. The only benefit is that he gets to practice and be around the big club, but that’s not enough.

I don’t understand why Amadio is a fixture.

The NHL successfully confused everyone about the expansion rules. Another job well done.

Seattle Expansion Draft Simulator - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

Just go there. Anyone who isn't listed as exempt, can be selected if left unprotected.

Not that whatever is on nhl.com probably isn't dumb. If you go to the teams or skaters page under stats, you can't even filter by division or conference. You can filter players by nationality, but not division. I get what you mean, but that's why capfriendly is a treasure.

I finally found an actual source for what consitutes a professional: Expansion Draft Eligibility | Puckpedia

Expansion Eligible:
  • If a player has 3 or more years of professional experience as of the end of 2020-2021 season, they are expansion eligible.
  • Currently on PuckPedia.com, if a player has 2 or more years of professional experience including 2019-2020, they are listed as expansion Eligible. Partway through the 2020-2021 season, this will be updated to be calculated based on 3 or more professional seasons through 2020-2021.

Professional Experience is defined as:
  • If player was 20 or older as of Dec 31 of a season, any season with 10+ NHL, AHL, or ECHL GP counts as a year of Professional Experience
  • If player was less than 20 as of Dec 31 of a season, any season with 10+ NHL GP counts as a year of Professional Experience

This explains why players like Strand and Clague are eligible regardless of games played in the NHL over the past two seasons. Hope this clears up some confusion.

That does for me, for sure. that was my biggest confusion point. Wasn't aware of the stark difference between 'expansion eligible' players vs. how many player with 'professional experience' a team must make eligible.
