agreed, but I think it is easier to find the sand paper guys via trade or UFA. Key is once you have one not to overpay.

We got our skill players developing with some that will join the team soon. Signing Clifford at 1 million for 2 years is like buying insurance at an affortable price. Wait till we play Vegas, how are we going to contain Reeves and Tuch?

Well, then. That's 2/3rds of our middle 6 line. Is Carter next? Carter is going to be next, isn't he?

Hey maybe if a bunch of them get COVID they will come back after the postponed games and play like Dallas did!? ...like a f***ing BOSS!

But how much did Clifford prevent Reeves, Tuch, Tkachuk, anybody else from doing anything in the previous years. Reeves still was taking runs, didn’t stop Tkachuk from taking a huge run at Doughty. I liked Clifford a lot, but let’s not pretend he was Grimson or Probert completely detouring players from doing stuff.

me yesterday: please put in bjornfot and jad

monkey's paw curls

I mean I wouldn't mind seeing those guys get some play as much as the next guy, but did the casualties have to endure such horrid punishment like taking pucks to the face and being on COVID protocol to get there?

It's not just about one player though, it's about a team mentality. We are too soft. I can gaurantee you if we had Stoll, Green,Nolan etc the other teams would think twice before taking runs. Right now we are making Greeway look like a superstar. Put someone on him, not a goon, but just someone to get in his face. We have no one that can play that role. We need to add some size and snarl to this team.

Sens added Watson and Coburn, not for their skill but to be sure their prospects don't go unprotected.

Cliffords career was never the same after this. I was a big fan of his too unfortunately this punch did a lot of damage.

Those players are tough and gritty but they didn’t prevent anything. Greene would fight and lose every fight he had, Stoll would do what? Face wash and some stick work behind the play? Nolan fought and did well but he still wasn’t prevent people from doing stuff. Even when we had Lucic, Couture nailed him and got Lucic to take a penalty.

Do you not remember the problems the Kings had with Perron, Burrows, Bieksa, Beleskey, Torres, Hanzal, Giordano, Ott.

I mean 2012 vs the Coyotes Brown was boarded by Hanzal and then 2 hand chopped by Smith. And then Steve Bernier boarded Scuderi almost as bad as Fiala and Roy and nothing happened beyond some face washing.

The most in your face player on those rosters was Quick and it didn’t stop anybody from crashing his crease and just making him even angrier.

I could be naive but I've never really understood the "we let guys take runs at our players and do nothing in return" sentiment. This isn't the same league it was 20 years ago and while I loved guys like Grimson and Probert back in the day I don't think either would sniff the NHL in today's game (maybe probert).

If the Kings had done what some of you wanted them to do after the Fiala hit it most likely would have botched the incoming 5 minute major and given them virtually no chance to get back in the game.

I'm going to disagree with you a bit. If the Kings had anyone willing to go after Tkachuk or throw some heavy hits on Gaudreau back in 2017, Matty would have definitely had second thoughts about continuing to take runs/throwing cheap shots at Doughty(and Carter). The Kings rolled over and he could keep up the dirty shit because there was no pushback. Of course borderline shit is still going to happen, but the fact that it happens does not mean that having guys who will go to battle is worthless.

It's pretty sad that he might still be the most in your face player on this roster. I have some hope for Tonka and Andersson but we still need to see how they pan out. I am not talking about goons here. Hard gritty players with some size that don't back down.

I’m guessing Blake will toughen up the team as we get closer to turning things around. I feel like he’s still shooting for the bottom of the standings for draft picks.

This team is hard to watch and get excited over; it’s intentional.

We’re still stuck in a rebuild and its long and painful.

It's less about the major on its own and more about the other stuff in totality.

And frankly we play these assholes several more times, these are exactly the games in which I'd like these guys to send some sort of message that they aren't going to roll over.
