I've always liked Wennberg. I'd be ok bringing him in on a 2yr contract for 5 mill or something. Move Lizotte to 4th line center and battle it out with JAD.

Way too much money. Maybe a 2year 2m deal but boy was he bad thw last couple years in Columbus. I just can't see where you can fit him in.

Iafallo--Kopitar--Brown
Kempe--Vilardi--Frk
L. Anderson--Carter--Wennberg
Wagner--Lizotte--Moore
Grundstrum, Amadio

Bjornfot--Doughty
Anderson--Roy
Maatta--Walker
MacDermid

Kopitars lead the team in points for the last decade, you ride his withered old body Chara style until he says stop. His game is all positioning, puck protection with size and skill, it translates well with age. Carter and Brown relied a bit more on speed as a key weapon which drops off with age.

Either way they are all still contributing relative to their cap hits, they are not bad contracts. Brown was still 3rd on the team in points last year, theres a long long way to drop from there before your 4th line checking fodder.

I say no to a CBO (if allowed) of kopitar.

Any CBO would leave the kings with an enormous amount of cap space for 2021-2022 with no one to use it on. Kovalchuk ends completely and Phaneuf drops. $9 million from them and $10 million for kopitar would leave the kings is serious danger of not making the cap floor.

A CBO would leave the kings with 13 contracts (plus the prospects that make the team) for $43.3 million or so and no RFAs of note other than Roy. All our top prospects would still be on ELCs. The kings wouldn't have any free agents worth extending. No major UFA is going to want to sign a 1 year deal - they would want term which would screw up the kings plans.

Plus, we need kopitar to mentor Byfield, Vilardi, and Turcotte.

You guys are gonna hate this, but someone up here is linking Hoffman to the Kings......don't have a link, read it on my phone.....

I keep wondering about Kupari. What is he projected to be and when is he going to see some time up in the big club?

That cliff that Vegas is headed for just keeps getting steeper, a bunch of guys in that 28-32 range (Stone, Pacioretty, Smith, Marchessault and Schmidt) that either have term or will inevitably be extended, and about to add another, probably on a 7 year deal.

Supposedly they almost moved Patches at the draft.

Do the Kings seriously have $12 million in cap space right now?

Yea, but since the only events Staples Center has hosted in 6+ months were the Emmys (no crowd), and a boxing match (no fans), and I can't imagine they've made much money from those ads shot in the building either, point is, I wouldn't expect them to spend much.

We are above the cap floor by virtue of $11M in dead buyout money.

Next year we gotta sign some guys. ;)

Comparing others who have similar cap space or even more is the the roster size associated with it. With only 4 players to add at an average of 3.25 million where as the Calgary flames have $16 million in space but have 9 players to add.

Its a good problem to have.

Normally guys signed on the first day of UFA are overpaid and for too long. With the static cap, that might change a bit. Kings aren’t making a cup run this year. Teams will be wanting to unload players with high cap hits. Kings should be able to get some filler players for cheap I am not expecting any big deals coming the kings way this year

Mayor just tweeted that we're going to sign Dominik Kahun.. Don't know much about him
Fun fact: He played for the same DEL Affiliate team as Tim Stützle (Jungadler Mannheim), until he came to North America and played for the......wait for it.....Sudbury Wolves. Weird.

7th best record over the last 3 years. 6th most regulation wins. 9th best offense. 9th best defense. 2nd most playoff games. 2nd most playoff wins. 4th best GF in the playoffs of teams that have played 30+ games. 2nd best GA of teams that have played 30+ games. There might be a cliff, but now is their time. Vegas is not only relevant, but also good on the ice. This is the roster you invest in. The cliff comes for everyone either way.
