Wennberg not qualified. I would have interest in him in a one or two year prove me wrong deal for our 3rd line center. If he rekindles some magic trade him for assets at the deadline

One year deal, why not. I'm not sure we even have a spot for him but I see what your'e sayiing re flipping him

Just looking at his thread on the main board there is a lot of teams fans who are wanting him. I may have underestimated his market

Do we even have room for him? with all those picks and shuffling going on, how close are we to the 50 contract limit?

So, let’s say the league allows teams to use a Compliance Buyout next offseason, because of the expansion draft, like they did in 2015...and say Kopitar has a bad season like he did a few years ago. He would be 34, with 3 more years in his contract at a 10 mil cap hit. Do you have to think about using the compliance buyout on him?

Not a chance. Kopitar is here for the long haul.

I just don’t want another Mike Richards situation again. I have faith in Kopi though, was just spitballing...

I understand your concerns, but Mike Richards’ case is the exception, not the rule. Kopitar has four years left on his contract. The worst case scenario here is that Byfield and Turcotte join the Kings this season and the two of them and Vilardi are due big raises in Kopitar’s last year. But if that’s the case, it’s a problem we can face way down the line.

What I love about Kopitar is that he’s so good defensively that the worst case scenario for him is he eventually becomes purely a shutdown third line center.

If I’m Blake, I do whatever it takes to make sure Kopitar retires in LA.

Kopitar’s contract ends right around the time the new core should be pushing far into the playoffs, anyway. 22/23 and 23/24 are the only seasons in which I can see it causing a problem, and only if Kopitar has fallen off a cliff and we are facing cap issues. That’s definitely a possibility. We’ll just need to see how it goes these next couple of years.

You don't buyout guys like Kopitar. The horrible optics will cost more in reputation than you save in money. Certain players deserve to call their shot with their teams because of the way they carry themselves and what they mean to the brand.

If Kopitar leaves the Kings it will be because he wants to chase one more ring. It shouldn't be because the Kings want to save money.

Yanneti mentioned Alex Wennberg in a recent episode of Kings of the Podcast. Don't remember specifics. I could absolutely see LA signing him to a short term deal as a potential 3C that could be a Swiss Army knife in the lineup.

Kopitar also has yet to show any signs of slowing down. He may prove to be a very productive 35+ player.

I expect a Mats Sundin level of aging of his game. In 2 seasons, we're hoping that Byfield shows signs of being a franchise level center and Vilardi/Turcotte holding down the second line. Then Kopitar winds down his career as the shutdown 3rd line center who can still pot 15+ goals.

I don’t want to be the franchise that strips our Captain of the C after he wins the first 2 Stanley Cups for the franchise and then compliance buyout the captain after him, who also was part of those cup wins.

Richards was different, he wasn’t home grown prospect who spent his whole career here.

I don’t see where Amadio fits this year and both Lizotte (who I like) and Wagner (who I’m not sold on) could be on the outside for 21/22.

I think Amadio is on the outs. He's had many opportunities.

With Lizotte and Wagner I think they need to earn their spots again – just because they made the team last year doesn't mean they have a warm spot waiting for them this year.

His circumstances were also much different. Guy was battling a broken body and an addiction as a result of trying to treat that broken body.

Josh Anderson signs 7 years $5.5 per with Montreal. As much as I think he's a great player and would have loved him in LA, I have a feeling this is going to be a David Clarkson moment for the Habs. That is way too much money.

Terrible contract for a player coming off a long term shoulder injury. They will wind up regretting that deal.

Domi signed for shorter and cheaper, I don’t really understand the move still.

I've always liked Wennberg. I'd be ok bringing him in on a 2yr contract for 5 mill or something. Move Lizotte to 4th line center and battle it out with JAD.
