I think we should keep AI and AA. They are 2 of the only players we have in that age group and they produce. I like the fact AA stood up for a teammate...we could use more of that type of leadership.
In a heartbeat. One for one that’s a no brainer.Would you trade Fagemo for Chychrun?
No.
f*** No.

Yeah, there it is. I wouldn't trade 5 1st/2nd round assets for one guy, especially at this stage. Depth is a thing, just ask the Oilers. They have two of the greatest players in the game today, can't win shit because the rest of their team is a tire fire wrapped in hot garbage. And there it it is....you have NO idea how Turcotte, or Faber will translate to the NHL and you definitely don't know what that 2022 1st will be, but you are turning down a #1 D...because of hope...that makes zero sense.
Yes, I’d also trade a 7th rounder for him...
This is soooo bad for Arizona....

Makes me way more hesitant honestly.Agreed, what about Fagemo and Turcotte.

Lol yes .
That is the exact opposite of what Blake should do. You know why? Because he tried it for two years when it was blatantly obvious that it should have been torn down.
This rebuild is two years behind where it should be because Blake and Robitaille misunderstood what made the previous team successful. It just wasn't this core, it was the ridiculously deep and driven pieces around them that lifted them up to a championship level. When they left - without a single asset in return - the core was exposed for what it was. Mediocrity.
Kopitar and Doughty have doubtlessly been informed of the direction, and even if they haven't they know far better than us what's going on. They signed their deals on a team that was heading straight down into a rebuild, there is no reason whatsoever to try and maximize their last few years.
We are in a completely different position than two years ago, when we did not have a stockpile of assets. Of course, we are not going to trade assets for aging veterans (e.g., Kovy) to try to go on a run, but we can identify certain targets for UFA signings that are in the high-20s age range and fit into our plan, or to acquire in a trade (e.g., deal for Dahlin). We can also afford to use our 1st rounder for a trade package, because whoever we get in the draft won't be ready for several years, which would mean that we wasted good years of Kopitar and Doughty simply because there is a theoretical possibility that our 1st round pick this year could have been a good player.
Turcotte is the energy guy the Kings desperately need in the top 6. Can we not trade him for some damaged goods please
In my opinion, the biggest problem with this team is not depth, its a complete lack of high-end talent. We have plenty of depth in guys like Kempe, Vilardi, JAD etc., who can move around lines 2-4, but we don't have any elite talent other than Kopitar and Doughty, and they are aging.

Let's pace ourselves. There's no need to go out and shoot our wad of prospects on the first good-looking NHLer that comes along in some sort of hockey bukkake.
The idea of keeping players like Richards and Carter longer than we should have is a problem this fan base still hasn't wrapped its head around. A simple concept, if an aging player has good value on the market, trade them before they have no value. If Kopitar has good value on the market, and we can get a younger top 6 center then the Kings should consider it. It will be a temporary setback but the Kings need a contingency plan if Byfield doesn't pan out. And Kopitar doesn't have much left in him. You can make an argument for keeping him but you can also make an argument for trading him. The only vet I'd keep is Doughty because of our D situation and he's shown real passion this season.
There's a real argument to be made either way. And I'm just on the trading side of it.
